Re: UEFA Europa League 2023-24

Are the TBL and TBU displacements in 123/4 and 221/2 usual, as is the case for this game? I’m in none of those blocks but I see on the OS that those with tickets in those blocks will be displaced. Are Leverkusen getting a larger than usual allocation (unlikely?) or will this be a rather large divide...

Re: UEFA Europa League 2023-24

Got to beat the best to be the best as they say. Liverpool were the “must avoid” team, and that is the case all the way to the final should we get there. Second leg at home too. Hopefully this sort of tie recreates the Sevilla atmosphere of the last Europa run. The turnout last night was poor in ter...

Re: January transfer window

Tried to work this out yesterday but don’t know enough about how the tax works in the two countries. If its UK tax for monies earned whilst overseas it didn’t seem a lot of money by footballing standards. Obviously depends on his weekly wage, but the last update was he was on 90k, 90k a week, 5 mon...

Re: January transfer window

I’ve seen Clarke a few times and each time he was nowhere near the standard required. The last game I watched was the derby the other day and he was the worst player on the pitch that day. In particular I think that he is lacking the physicality needed in the Premier League. I may be missing somethi...

Re: Arsenal vs West Ham United: match thread

Alvarez to get a yellow for leaving one on Rice, and Mavropanos to have a stinker against Jesus. Reckon that’ll be evens for the pair. I feel like we got away with one (or a few) against Man United, where Mavropanos switched off or let the ball run across him in the penalty area. I feel like I’m con...

Scratch at any surface long or hard enough and it will give.

I suspect many senior football personnel past and present are sitting quite uncomfortably right now.

Re: Everton: 12 point deduction recommended [non WHU]

From what I have read, the City charges are very different to the ones that Everton have now been found guilty of. I think at this time it’s an easy but lazy comparison. The sheer number of charges levied against them might suggest that at least one will stick, but if they’re different in nature the...

Re: ⚽West Ham Utd vs Everton: match thread

I think what makes it worse for those who are tired of the football that a Moyes team plays, is the fact that Europe is littered with managers that play more “attractive” football. A few years back it was relatively uncommon, but the rate of change over the last 2-3 years has been incredible, and th...

Re: West Ham Utd vs Everton: match thread

It is fair to say generally under Moyes the more possession we have the poorer our attacking play is, there is something worrying about that and that is usually a reflection of how poor a side is coached in possession play, it seems in open play we rely on individual instinctive off the cuff creati...

Re: West Ham United vs Newcastle United: match thread

I thought that a draw was probably a fair result when all was said and done. If Bowen’s attempt at 2-2 had gone in the place would have absolutely erupted. I thought the atmosphere was half decent today. Isak caused us problems all day and is a classy player. Paqueta with another good performance bu...

Re: Other Games Sept 29 - Oct 5

Assuming that we are not in that race, which honestly I think is a step or two too far for us this year, the poor performance of the English teams in Europe this year may have the added benefit of preventing fifth place in the league from making the Champions League next year. That could result in s...

Re: Liverpool statement [non WHU]

What really frustrates me is the quite obvious decline in on-field refereeing since VAR came in. Prior to VAR, there would be a real howler every now and then, but not often, then an incorrect but difficult call every few weeks (ie marginal offside, foul given outside the box that was on the line et...

Re: Other Games Sept 29 - Oct 5

Chelsea have a terrible run of fixtures coming up, so even after 3 points this evening I fair reckon they will be in a bit of a mess come the end of this calendar year.

Re: Other Games Sept 29 - Oct 5

Why should Premier League referees - some apparently paid more than £100k a year - also have a side hustle officiating games in another league when the Premier League season is on? I believe they were given special dispensation. I don’t think the fact that they’re paid in excess of £100k should be ...

Re: Other Games Sept 29 - Oct 5

I don’t recall the game now, but unless my mind is playing tricks on me I’m sure there was a Premier League game in the last 2-3 years in which the lines were drawn incorrectly which affected whether a goal was given. I seem to remember VAR missing a player that would have affected the lines, as tha...

Re: EFL Cup 4th Rd Draw

No reason not to give this one a go. It finishes earlier in the season as well, so it shouldn’t affect any nail-biting important knockout European games that we absolutely certainly definitely will be playing in toward seasons end. A few big names out already and some of the lesser fancied teams gua...

Re: Liverpool F.C. Vs West Ham United F.C. Match Thread

I wasn’t sure if the Liverpool fans that were clapping when Paqueta was subbed, were clapping Paqueta or one of their old players, Danny Ings. I’ll go with the former, to both give them credit as a fanbase and because the boy deserved it. That’s the type of performance you pay to see, even if we did...

Re: Liverpool F.C. Vs West Ham United F.C. Match Thread

MacAllister made NO contact with the ball, you can look at it from any angle you want even on the Moon and it won't show him making contact with the ball. In that case you must have seen the other angles that I’m referring to and came to a very different conclusion. If you have please link them as ...

Re: Liverpool F.C. Vs West Ham United F.C. Match Thread

I may stand corrected when the other camera angles inevitably get shared, but from what I recall I thought that it was Mac Allister’s heel that made contact with the ball and sent it in the other direction.
