Re: Not so Super Mario

For me the issue is Fornals - currently £24m pretty much wasted. He has talent but so far has looked physically and mentally unsuited to the demands of the Premier. I fear he will be turned inside out if it is suggested he take on the Noble role. Ceballos at Arsenal (who is the better player judged ...

Re: January

Current form we are likely to get more of a return from Matic than we have from Fornals who really needs to show now he is worth the £24m what with the Lanzini injury. Sanchez is gone in the summer, get Matic in and I believe that would make us a stronger side short and medium term. This refusal to ...

Re: 2019/2020 Relegation Thread

It is as much about plan and application as investment. Burnley, Brighton and Sheffield Utd this season all examples of teams who have a plan, buy to it and get players willing to give 100%. Norwich are a team with the right attitude but wrong plan. Just a few seasons back Southampton were the pundi...

Re: Bristol city's Director writes off £70 million debt

As someone posted this debt has not been written off but transferred into shares in the company to whom the debt was owed. Fine if you own all shares in the company to whom the debt is owed but not if others have shares in that company as they are devalued. Simply put a company is worth £1000 with a...

Re: Why are we shot to bits ?

Injuries to Fabianski and Antonio have hurt us but too many players are out of form, low on confidence or whatever. Said weeks back we needed Rice and Diop to rediscover the form of last season - neither have or certainly not consistently, same goes for Anderson. When probably your 3 most influentia...

i can see some regular posters on here spouting a few paragraphs thinking they add superb content when in reality it’s regurgitated **** from the opinions of others. you’re not fooling me, mate.. you look a bit silly. we were **** today. devoid of cunningness and confidence where it mattered, the g...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Sheffield United: Match thread (26/10)

Must have been at a different game to most. Far superior to last week. First half we generally had good control save for set pieces where we were dominated in the air. Smartly taken goal but did emphasise our lack generally of getting midfielders ahead of the ball this season. An ounce of confidence...

Re: Weekend Fixtures 25-27th October

Difficult to imagine we would look as slick as Leicester against ten man Aaints tonight. Their recruitment continues to be excellent. Yet many on here in the summer were laughing at the recruitment of Perez for £30m or whatever in the summer as an overpriced average player. Rodgers was buying someo...

Re: January

For me Haller has been fine, he will improve but as many have posted we need to create chances for him (Arnie had the pace and skill combination to create his own which Haller does not but he has the “striker” instincts Arnie lacked) For me the bigger issue is we rarely get anyone running off him th...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Sheffield United: Match thread (26/10)

They and Liverpool gave the best defensive records in the Premier this season. Do not see us scoring more than 1 so keeping them out will be vital in which case we might squeak a win. Could well end up 1-1. Will be like the Palace game in that they will be organised and hard to break down. We need t...

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread

So MP is unable to make a change when actually it appears he has made a fairly fundamental one this season which it might well be argued is not working. Noble is playing far higher up the pitch than last year, if anything when attacking we are far more a 4-1-4-1 than the 4-2-3-1 many seem to suggest...

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread

Rice has still to show that his passing is developing. Yes he can usually win the ball and play the simple pass well enough however he is not creative or adventurous in his distribution which means those around him need to be. When they fail as the rest of the midfield (especially in this respect La...

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread

Very poor performance but I cannot agree on a “very poor start” to the season. First away defeat of the season at a ground we traditionally do poorly at. Games like today highlight how much the option of Antonio is missed (as did last week but for different reasons, then we played in front of a comp...

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions

My seat would now be further away from the pitch if this gets the go ahead and would not be what I chose at the reservation centre at Westfield. Awaiting the club to directly reach out to me to see what they offer, if anything. Genuinely confused - are they really suggesting that they will move sea...

Re: Cresswell or Masuaku?

For me Cresswell remains the better defender of the two. Yes Arthur can dribble past their players far better than Cresswell but I am far from convinced his final cross is any better. Balanced against this though is the way Arthur will turn off and watch players run past him. I know in the modern ga...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Crystal Palace: Match Thread

Do not get me wrong in that I thought Noble played well but I could not understand why he was often the further forward of him and Lanzini (who was poor in my view). The one thing Noble is unlikely to do is drop a shoulder and go past 1 or 2 players and yesterday cried out for our attacking central ...

Re: VAR - yes or no ?

My only real issues are I) its far, far too slow and really needn't be - the technology is there to immediately locate point of incident, whilst the chimp operating it procrastinates II) it seems 'ok' to over-rule linesmen (offsides), but not referees (Penalties) Which goes back to the misunderstan...

Re: VAR - yes or no ?

“Clear and obvious” does not apply to questions of fact - including onside/offside. It only applies to questions of interpretation - was that a foul, red card etc.

ron seems to me that they have NO plan. they got their manager hires all wrong. Not sure I agree in as far as recent hires are concerned. I think we can all agree Avram was a waste of space but since then... Big Sam may not have been popular but was the right man for the job required (promotion and...

Re: KUMB Player of the Month

For me Rice is returning to his very best form and he is perhaps the one player we currently have who may well go on to play at a higher level. That said I suspect we are beginning to see what an excellent player we were robbed of by injury last year in Yarmolenko. He does not do everything at 100mp...
