Re: Declan Rice

I read a good piece on how much Xakha’s absence on that left side has affected Martinelli’s game and role. I won’t dispute his talent but Saka is just one of those players I just don’t ‘get’. Like i’m sure everyone can’t be wrong but I don’t get it Rice will always be a 7/10 at least and never inju...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

If Moyes leaves then I would rather the current Wolves boss than the last one who pretty much gave up the job because the going got tough. From allegedly prime relegation candidates to probable top half O’Neil has done a really good job.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Demand side perhaps Bubbs. But supply side? It must be easier to attract players if you have European football? Brighton had no trouble attracting the likes of Caciedo, Miatoma and McCallister without European football. I suspect it is this type of player when they signed for Brighton that TS will ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Osman (f.e.) wasn't a Moyes type of signings, but all parties at the club had agreed that he was a type of player to take a punt on. For now and the future. Exactly Osman was not a Moyes signing - I doubt he said got get me Osman (in essence if he comes great if not so be it) but almost certainly w...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Not so sure about that. Smaller squad needed, easier workload with more preparation and recuperation time coupled with less travel. It arguably enables a smaller more focused overhaul of playing personnel with less need to puff up the numbers in the squad with resources focused on the first XI. Cer...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

There is a difference between deliberate sabotage and taking a risk. Doubt anybody seriously believed we would win the EL what with Liverpool and Bayer in it. Europe next season was a league issue therefore. We are still not out of it and had we got a reasonable rub of the green could have had 2 mor...

Re: Midweek Games April 9-11

His stats at Man City were really mediocre - I certainly wasn't sold on him because of that. Stats are not everything especially given he was 19/20. He barely started due to the wealth of resources they had but you could always see his class because when he did come on he did not look out of place....

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I feel really fed up with the club at the moment. We have no real identity I think the owners have no ambition or the wealth needed to progress the club. Does it matter who is Manager at the moment? Yes the games are dull but look at Villa they turn over less money but spend more The Directors do n...

Re: Postecoglou: are the cracks beginning to show? [non WHU]

Not sure he's done 'great'. Knocked out in the 2nd rd of the League Cup, 4th round of the FA Cup and no Europe. A 41 game season and £250m spent on new players in the summer. Put a smile on their faces a fair bit, for sure....but without the added challenge of european football they have had it eas...

Re: Midweek Games April 9-11

I like him and clearly with 30 goals this season he is a good finisher. I think he is too similar to a David Connelly type of forward though and not sure how he would do in the PL. Hard to see how he would fit in to our current system.Could possibly be a back up option for one of the two wide forwa...

Fair play to Ange, he set his team up to play “the right way” though. “Right way” at Newcastle though? Unless you have the resources of a Man City or Real Madrid to begin to think that there is one “right way” to play irrespective of who the opposition is or where the game is being played is...

Re: Everton FC: 10 Point Deduction Confirmed for PL FFP breach

Possibly so, i might be tempted to bid right now for aa couple of their players with cash payment on day 1 the window opens. Garner, Patterson, Tarkowski. £40m job lot. Branthwaite will go for big money, probably to Liverpool, Man Utd or similar. The bottom line though the world knows they are skin...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

A lot is being seen by the press and pundits through PL tinted glasses. Man City are pure class and are playing in the CL possibly the only team who could claim to be better than them at present. Sure they may not win the league, after all 4 in a row has never been done I believe, but to my mind whe...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

‘Why doesn’t he give the kids a chance” goes the mantra. He puts several on the bench and it is look at how weak the bench is. Do we want to give the youngsters at least a hope of playing or do we want to fill the bench (thus the squad) with more experienced players? Equally the player qualification...

Re: The kids are all right

Sullivan leaves and sells up to a crook (it's happened before). We drop down to League One in the next 5 years. Would you rather have Spurs or Chelsea as our new sugar daddies? That's what you're suggesting is good enough for other clubs. I don't want to be rude but I don't think people suggesting ...

Re: The kids are all right

Which towns across England will see their clubs knocked out of the Football League to allow a bunch of reserve teams to battle it out for the League 2 promotion slots? Knock out current clubs and you are doing it wrong. With the financial issues most lower league clubs have PL and top championship ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Still think we need a player who can see and make a pass if we lose Paqueta (especially if we also change the way we play) and I am not sure this is the strong point of any of the feasible names mentioned (Grealish, Gibbs-White, Eze are not because all would likely cost north of £60m before you even...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

If Paqueta leaves we will need a proper 10, one who plays like he does with his head up and sees a pass especially if Moyes goes and the new guy is more possession based. Kudus is fine at 10 in a Moyes system away from home or possibly at home against the big clubs when it is all about countering at...
