Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

If you look at contracts expiring there are a lot this summer then a couple of light years. Giving Coufal another year and maybe Fab too makes sense from squad planning. If we’re out of Europe arguably 3 full backs with Johnson on both sides might be enough, particularly if some youth players may st...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Who would be your realistic preference? Toney is the obvious one if none of the big boys are in who would be the instant elevation... but its very much a lot of money at the expense of other positions Toney's attitude stinks, to come back from a long ban and say within weeks that he wants to move, ...

He's good, I hope Real Madrid come knocking, I think he's too good for Arsenal.

Given how few he scores and how little he's playing probably his last goal for us, but not a bad way to do it.

I hope he gets a call up and some minutes. He needs them. He can't get worse for us short of getting a season-ending injury.

They paid £10m for him in the same January window we bought Ings.
Bournemouth seem to have Bristol City on speed dial.

I do wonder if he was picked, in part, as he’s in the list to move out this summer and it gave JWP time to settle.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

I prefer Kudus on the right side but long term I think he can make that position behind the striker his own. It’s the only way you fit him, Bowen and a high profile striker into the starting 11 for me It feels like quite a Moyes thing to let a player acclimatise to the Premier League on the wing th...

Re: Ben Johnson

I believe he wants first 18 wages which is £65,000 a week. We wont pay that but Palace will. Its about money That's a lot of money for a player who still hasn't nailed down a first team place. If he wanted 35k and bonuses/triggers that took him to £65k, if he makes the appearances, then I'm fine wi...

Re: ✍ Welcome Emerson Palmieri

There was, at one point, in the second half where we lost the ball near the corner flag (Brentford) end and they were on a counter attack, he bust a gut to get back and cover the ground to hold the play up while the rest of our midfield jogged back. I remember when Moyes dropped him when he didn't ...

You can only add three players and they bought more than that - not an issue we face.

Re: Tim Steidten - How should we assess his contribution?

It will be interesting to see who buys Gould's family out; if Sulli's allies fall below 50%, he could lose the chairman role, or it becomes a much less powerful position. Every chance that the sale is made before the summer window opens and then the past form of how he has operated is probably less ...

Because he is a professional, not a fan, he is also negotiating a new contract, and he will be privy to information that you are not. At a guess.

I hope we've learned our lesson with this injury and don't bring him back too soon, even if it's an extra match, let's have him for the season.

Re: Tim Steidten - How should we assess his contribution?

Fact is we’ll never truly know who is the one screening things up. Unless he and Moyes are both still here once Sully departs and everything is then perfect. I do think a technical director job is a 4+ year role and if I was another club would be concerned if he had lots of short stints in his CV. H...

He maximises his profit by improving us. Our board spend more then enough on players, just need to keep spending well and he can push for investment in scouting analytics and recruitment.

Re: January transfer window

If we get Sarr on a six month loan (ideally with an option) and move on the other three we get to the start of the summer window with a couple of left sided spaces in our squad and cash to spend early in the window with no significant drop off in quality for the run in, works for me. Frankly I think...

Re: January transfer window

Selling Fornals and Benrahma is good business. Neither of them offer anything. I have to agree with this; I don't think it's a huge drop-off to Cornet and if he got some form back, then great. How often we would actually have used them for more than a 10-minute cameo is, barring an injury crisis, a...

Re: January transfer window

I’m grateful for Prague but he’s been dreadful this season and inconsistent most of his time here. He needs to move. If he’s unhappy that he can’t get into our starting XI or get a move to somewhere that appeals to him more than Lyon then he needs to look at himself. If he chooses to sit here and c...
