Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2021

I think Tammy would be a good player to have but is he worth First Choice Striker money? My point being does anyone here believe he's going to be a regular 20 goal a season striker? Granted we know more about him than others out there but equally we know more about him than others out there so shoul...

Re: Could or should we have won the Euro 20/21 final?

Maybe maybe not - these things always have a way of surprising us - Holding the World Cup in an Arabian country is way overdue - Italy , France , Brazil , Germany and Mexico have hosted the World Cup twice before any Arab Nation was chosen so yeah why not Qatar ? I'm reading that some teams might b...

A farce of a tournament really. The hoops jumped through to make this work has been incredible. I half wished it would collapse but I think if anything COVID will make this more likely to happen than not.

Re: Could or should we have won the Euro 20/21 final?

 No you keep your LBs, one might make the squad over Chilwell though, I'll have Shaw and Tripper starting, thanks. Bale maybe 3 or 4 years ago, but he's finished now. Ramsey wouldn't even make the squad. Anyone else? Like Foden or Grealish, maybe? Fair enough but both are fairly limited. I wou...

Re: Could or should we have won the Euro 20/21 final?

A Great Britain team will still be made up of a 1-11 of English players though. Nah. Give you 2 left backs from Scotland who could outplay any of the FBs you have either side. Add Bale on the right side and arguably what you definitely needed in the final which was a Ramsey type ACM and you could h...

Horse Caller penalty they call it in the NFL but the extent of it's crime is minimal. Maybe something FIFA will look at but you said it's a unique shirt pull but one that the law currently deems a yellow.

I think it's difficult because England has all the infrastructure to be a successful nation on the international stage but I think the same way as WW2 etc has been mythologised by some so has 1966. To not mention it or revisit time and time again seems almost sacrilege for Media, personalities etc s...

Re: Home Nations Support

Now it's all over I'd like to mention a few things. 1. Wales are a team who punch well above their weight and probably reached their maximum potential currently. A semi final and a knockout game in successive tournaments is possibly bang on what they can achieve. I look at some of the class players ...

Re: Chiellini/Saka

It's a shirt pull, he's not clear through on goal, it's a yellow. I agree that Jorginho, by the letter of the new law, which so far seems to be Apadu's Law, should have gone as he went in with his studs raised but even in that instance the fact that his foot bounced off of the ball and onto Grealis...

Re: Match #37/R16: Wales vs Denmark (5pm, Saturday 26th June)

Two well matched teams. The Danes are excellent in full flight. They put in one of the performances of the tournament, only to be beaten by the Belgians, before turning it on again against the Russians and getting their reward. They were unbeaten in qualification, and they came second in a NL group...

Can Arnie & Co provide an upset?
No. Italy have experience where it's needed and ability at the sharp end. They might ship a goal finally but they will score 2 or 3.

3 - 1 and the Azzuri march on.

looking at the two likely line ups and there are plenty positions England could claim to be superior. I don't believe they will be outclassed by the Germans. The issue will be experience and temperament which, sorry to say, is not an English trait to write home about.

Could be a cracker though.

All too easy for the Croats in the end. Suspected they would have a decent game in them but if I saw that coming as a non football player / coach then what the hell were they all up too? I'm glad Souness was brutal because that performance should be savaged. You can't just be up to play against Engl...

Well that's how our group worked out mate, but some of the others have some amazing permutations. The Danish group yesterday was all over the place. Groups E and F look brilliantly poised as well. You get meaningless games in all tournaments. Just because our specific game is a bit nothingy doesn't...

Jonny Pierce has a good football voice for radio. I don't like him for TV. I can't explain why but it just doesn't work.

Times like this I miss Barry Davies.
