Re: ⚽ Burnley FC v West Ham United: Match thread (09/11)

That was shameful. I’m not one for knee jerk reactions, but I really think Pellegrini’s time is up. He’s never been an inspirational figure, shouting instructions from the touch line, but now it seems clear that he’s simply run out of ideas. We all knew what was coming today, and not just because we...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Newcastle United: Match thread (2/11)

I’ve slept on it and the good news is that I have The Answer: Movement. It’s so easy and we’re so lacking in it. Off the ball and on the ball, nobody is moving to make options for other players and give the opposition something to think about. Even the most unskilled player lacking in confidence can...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Newcastle United: Match thread (2/11)

The most depressing thing about today was that it was so utterly predictable from the moment the team sheet was announced. Fredericks and Arthur (and I’m not his biggest fan) should have started to give us some desperately needed pace, Ogbonna (who shouldn’t have been dropped) should have started to...

Pelle is sticking his neck out a bit with that team. No changes at all to an 11 which looks shot of confidence.

I’m worried.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Newcastle United: Match thread (2/11)

Newcastle will have watched our last couple of games and so will know exactly how to approach this - which is why we need to change things up today.

Up and at em from the off, and pray for the first goal to settle the nerves and open them up.

I’m not holding out too much hope though.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Sheffield United: Match thread (26/10)

I haven’t seen MOTD but I can confirm from going to the game that we really could have been 3 or 4 down before we scored.

We had loads of possession but created nothing. They had far the better chances.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Sheffield United: Match thread (26/10)

For a bit of perspective, this is a Sheffield Utd team who haven’t lost away this season and beat Arse last time out. They are very organised, have a clear game plan and stick to it. We don’t have a divine right to turn teams like that over. That said, we were pretty poor. I don’t have a problem wit...

Re: Reid misses another return

I wish Reid all the best, but would simply be amazed if he returns as anything close to the calibre he was before?

A testimonial? No. For me, they’re an outdated throwback to when players needed one last pay day before retiring.

Zoom in on the pic in that article, where you see the list of Academy Graduates on the wall. What happened between 2011-15?

Shocking. We really need to start giving these kids more chances. Hope this lad gets his opportunity to shine.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Sheffield United: Match thread (26/10)

First goal is crucial - if we don’t get it then heads will drop and we’ll really struggle to break down a very organised team. I’m in the all guns blazing camp. We need to see a reaction from last week and not let them bully us. Snoddy to start to get in their faces, Yarmo to start and get a bit clo...

Re: Are we missing a leader?

We need a better centre-half than Ogbonna and we need a more all-round central midfielder than Lanzini. Ideally, either or both would be leaders. I half agree. As in, the all-round central midfielder seems to be a no-brainer, as it has done for a few seasons now, but I think that Oggy has been one ...

Re: Are we missing a leader?

I missed this thread earlier, but thought it was well worth picking up on again. Agree totally with the OP - I like Nobes and recognise what he brings to the team...but we desperately need someone to lead by example on the pitch and help gee the others up when we have half-arsed performances like th...

Re: Pablo Fornals

I live in Spain now and Spanish friends were full of good comments when we signed Fornals "one of the most promising players In La Liga" according to them. I watched the Everton game in a bar with a number of Spaniards whose main comments were along the lines of "why are you playing him out there"!...

Re: Hammers on Loan 2019/20

Sorry if this has already been covered, but do we have a recall option for Diangana in Jan? It sounds like he's really kicked on and could give some of our current midfield a lesson in turning up for a game.

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread

Lack of quality is one thing, but there was an inexcusable lack of effort from many of our players for most of that game. Again. Why?
