Re: VAR - yes or no ?

I will preface all of this by saying I was a huge advocate of VAR at the start of the season. I am now absolutely sick to death of it. The Liverpool incident yesterday is a prime example of why it is a joke, combined with one of the most ludicrous rule introductions imaginable. PGMOL says it wasn't ...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Sheffield United: Match thread (26/10)

They have not lost a game yet this season by more than a goal so very unlikely we will "roll them over" On paper this looks like an awful game for our technically gifted players that don't really like a scrap but I have a sneaky confidence based on nothing at all that we will win this one. Like othe...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Crystal Palace: Match Thread

Really disappointing for me. I thought we got sucked in to playing their pace, especially first half where it was painfully slow. Every time we put a bit of pace in or play we caused a problem for them. Sadly we didn't do it often enough. At 1-0 I thought there was only one winner but even that didn...

Re: Grady Diangana

Sad to see there is not a place in the Under 21's for Grady this time around. The big club bias is well and truly alive with the likes of Skipp (2 mins of premier league football this season for Tottenham and a EFL cup loss to Colchester) and Nketiah (on loan to Leeds from arsenal with 0 starts this...

I know this is a very skewed stat but...

Players who have scored more than him this season from the same number of games:

Sterling
Bernado Silva

Probably suggests he isn't doing too badly. I am another one who fancies him to get at least one this weekend

Re: ⚽ AFC Bournemouth v West Ham United: Match Thread

I was thinking the same today. Or failing that do the same for Mcginn if Villa go. British too With Watford looking increasingly relegat-y there should be a laser-focused tapping up effort starting now to convince Doucoure to play his football here next season. It will probably take a Haller-like fe...

Re: ⚽ AFC Bournemouth v West Ham United: Match Thread

Looking forward to the hysteria on here and doom mongering after last night. If it's any consolation to you all they feel the same based on their cup exit with a whimper to League 1 oppo. Bro in law is a Bournemouth fan so get all the news and expect another close game here. Interesting that accordi...

Re: ⚽Oxford United v West Ham United: LC R3 Match Thread

Only seen the highlights of this one but you can see in the goals we conceded that the effort wasn't there. 1st goal - Sanchez has no interest in getting close to the guy in the box. It's a training goal when you are half closing down 2nd - Anderson would 100% be back in defending if that was a Prem...

Re: ⚽ Aston Villa v West Ham United: Match Thread

Been a few days since the match. I'm in the generally positive camp for a few reasons: I thought we were a little off in the attacking 3rd but Villa defended excellently. The way they set up at home defensively also makes me think that teams will give us way more respect this season. They defended d...

Re: Liverpool CEO Peter Moore stays with fan 'ambushed'

I interviewed Peter Moore last year for some work I was doing with technology startups. Living in Liverpool I have a few contacts who work at the club and Peter Moore was a really willing and genuinely nice guy. His background and story is really interesting. He was a PE teacher and selling trainers...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Manchester United: Match Thread

I'm not sure if I can believe it but can the best defence in the Premier League over the last 4 games keep up the good work? I think it shows how fat things have come and how far they have fallen that I will be really disappointed if we don't get a result. Tough game but I am going to go 2-1 West Ha...

Re: VAR - yes or no ?

Interesting that Dermot Gallagher said the Haller one will probably be used as an example of getting it wrong at this weeks ref's meeting. Doesn't do us much good now though.

At least it didn't cost us at the weekend

Re: VAR - yes or no ?

The Grealish one couldn't be a goal with VAR because the ref blew for the dive before the goal was scored. In that case it is just an example of the worst refereeing you will likely see. I've been a supporter of VAR so far even with all of it's issues but the unwillingness to overturn a mate's decis...

A few ifs in this one but looking at the next round of fixtures there is a very fair chance we could end up 3rd after the Villa game.

Seems they may have lost their first choice centre halves for the weekend. Granted I don't think either have played in the league yet anyway but should guarantee goals. Hopefully we get most of them.

Re: ⚽ Newport County v West Ham United: FL Cup Match Thread

Last night would have been hugely beneficial in terms of Fornals adjusting to the English game. Once he had scored, you could see the confidence that gave him, he played with a bit of a swagger thereafter. What I did like about him and Wilshere last night was that even 1st half when it wasn't going...

I know that I shouldn't be.. but I'm listening to Jim white this morning on Talk Sport.. What a prick. Couldn't agree more. Not heard him today but stood in front on the countdown timer yesterday on SSN as people are losing their livelihoods, all for a bit of sensationalist tabloid TV was awful. He...
