Re: West Ham United FC Vs Arsenal FC Match thread
I think we can get back in this if we just hit a few more aimless long balls at Soucek 2nd half

Re: Brentford v West Ham Utd: Match Thread
Awful performance apart from a couple of moments of individual brilliance. And that is what we now rely on. A set play or some individual class. I genuinely don't remember one attempt to play football until 80th minute today. It was all long balls and chances. Ward Prowse looks like all the enthusia...

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v TSC Backa Topola: match thread
Think that type of game where we dominate the ball is the ideal time for Paqueta to be played in themore advanced midfield role that he took after Fornals went off. Before that he was picking the ball up really deep but with not much space to pass into as they croded it out. After4 he moved forward,...

Re: Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico
Not sure it's quite about where he plays but how we play that will get the best out of Paqueta. His mistake comes from a slow ponderous sideways pass when in the main we were stuck a bit in the game playing slower more ponderous football in general. 2nd half when we get on the front foot with forwar...

Not rocket science. Press the ball higher up the pitch and we get ourselves in the game.

Re: KAA Gent v West Ham United: Match Thread
Another horror performance but an OK(?) result. Our press is the worst I have ever seen from any team. I don't think we win the ball back from an opposition unless it is within 20 yards of our own goal. Even their goal came from Rice not knowing whether to press or not. Although he didn't track the ...

Re: Brighton & Hove Albion vs West Ham Utd: match thread
Massive game this one. A win and we put daylight between us and the bottom 3 and could go as high as 13th, well on the way to mid table mediocrity. I hope Moyes resists the urge to play 5 at the back here and I would also love him to not play Soucek in the 10 Fellaini role. Brighton have big physica...

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd vs Nottingham Forest: match thread
Night and day from the first half to the 2nd. Actually created a whole bunch from open play without constantly throwing crosses in the box. Much better when Paqueta and Souchek swapped as it gave so much more imagination in the final third.
Great result that

Re: Declan Rice
I've seen it a few times this season but it was super noticable yesterday that a couple of times first half Rice put a really good press on when the ball went back to the Spurs Gk. He followed it all the way through and they just passed out easy beacuse everyone else is retreating to our own half ou...

Re: Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico
I really like Paqueta and think at time he is levels above some of ours in terms of vision and where he expects players to be (playing for Brazil might do that to a guy) but if we are ever going to get the best out of him we need to be having more than 30% of the ball. He is never going to show his ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
Not quite sure what to make of last night. Definitely some signs of life which is good. I've been Moyes out for a while but last night gives me some hope he could turn it around. As a few others have said the press was better last night. However I think we still sit too deep as a team. Our problems ...

Probably get pelters for this but Musah could be a potential Rice replacement when time inevitably comes Not the same quality yet but like the look of him a lot.

Im concerned for the people of Liverpool, a good few of them genuinely believe Henderson to be a better player.
Absolutely class last night. Levels above our and theirs to be fair.

Re: ⚽ Silkeborg IF v West Ham United: match thread
I picked this quote out because it’s true. This is because Moyes refuses to play any other way than Moyesball pragmatic football where we sit back and counter this will mean Antonio will be first choice until he changes his approach. This is annoying with Scamacca and paqueta in the squad First thi...

That may be the worst performance in a West Ham win I've ever seen. Up there with the Allardyce game against 10 man Hull and Kidderminster last year.
I never want to see that awful 5 at the back with 4 fullbacks again. And the subs. My God!
But a win is a win.

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Olympique Lyonnais: match thread
That was stressful in real time last night but in watching it back they really didn't have many good chances. For all their possession it was shots from range that we were pretty comfortable with. Before the red card I think the only shot they had was Ndombele from 40 yards on one of the rare occasi...

Re: Michail Antonio
He was crap as he was class yesterday. Never have I seen a more enigmatic player in my life. That said he would always be one of my first names on the team sheet. It wasn't always great but he completely bullied Everton yesterday with pace and power. They were correctly scared stiff of him. My probl...

Re: Ben Johnson
I think I'm developing a man crush on Johnson. He is like an old school right back rather than the flashy ones today who can't defend to save their lives. And I can see how much it means to him as well. i thought first 20 mins everyone but he in particular was almost a bit over excited. He got too t...
