Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I don’t think he’s trying to be either critical or complimentary - he’s just stating what we could all see with our own eyes. He wasn’t especially comfortable playing David Moyes style of football. Not a great revelation is it? But that's not what the actual quotation was about though. It sounded l...

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/apr/06/thilo-kehrer-history-west-ham-club-monaco-ligue-1-psg Kehrer summing up things up quite succinctly. Weird signing. Is it just me or is the headline weird? In context he seems to be trying to be complimentary, but the meaning is twisted in the headlin...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up. If I was him I’d take a break for a while. He was sounded out about replacing Rodger, but Celtic seem in better form now. Everton seems an option, though I’d be surprised if he went there given the state they are in. Some suggest the fans there wouldn’t ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Some people are still in denial. Forget David Moyes. Sullivan is slowly but surely is leaving as well . I was told by someone who was the 1st one to break the kretinsky news . Despite whetstones denial . That kretinsky has a deal in place for the stadium. And he brokered it . As the LLDC will not e...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

In terms of replacements.... Andoni Iraola was my choice last season. Glasner was the one I liked most this season. Both gone elsewhere now. Looking elsewhere... what's the story with Eric Roy at Brest? He has spent the majority of his career so far as a technical director, including a spell at Wat...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Tim will have about as much power as the more highly rated Marcel Brands had at Everton under a similarly dictatorial owner - sod all.

I think Moyes has already made up his mind to walk in the summer, so its more a case of who will the club get in to replace him?

Re: Postecoglou: are the cracks beginning to show? [non WHU]

You can get away with 'gung ho' in Scotland with Celtic and inferior opposition (Rangers apart). Not so clever in the Premier league. Admirable approach but quite frankly naive at times (that Chelsea game a prime example). That's the thing. Also, Celtic's squad was relatively deep so taking such a ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Go backwards to go forwards I suspect. Steidten (based on Leverkusen) is about a different system. Young, cheap, undervalued players sometimes discarded by others. Shifting to that takes time and patience and it doesn't include 90% of our squad. I don't really follow German stuff, was it working wh...

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico

I wonder if his lack of discipline and recent displays of petulance will deter Pep from actually going for him. He won't get the same leeway at City that he does here. He's out of form though, that's for sure and is making mistakes. Unfortunate timing, but too early to say he isn't playing for the ...

In his position he’ll be taking it easy.

Mourinho is going to have a great time working with stellar Tim picks like Mavropanos.

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico

I’d like to see him get back to playing at his pre injury level. He’s had moments since coming back, but he’s well off his levels from 2023. I also think he’s looked a little jaded. He needs to pull his head out and finish the season strong, especially if he wants to leave. He’s not currently entic...

Maybe not the best attitude if it means missing out on players like McGinn, Tierney, Hickey and Van Dijk.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

What amazes me is the idea that Moyes isn't aware of statistics. He was one of the trailblazers in that regard along with Big Sam. And we know he has not fallen behind either, as he is on committees at UEFA. The club that is not allowed to be named were ahead of the game in that respect at Moyes' re...

People moan about missing out on Frimpong yet any time a player is mentioned from the Scottish leagues there are howls of derision! People moan about being linked to experienced players, untried players, etc, etc. Maybe if Tim likes a player from north of the border everyone will suddenly get behind...

Games without Paqueta: 9 Wins without Paqueta: 1 (Lincoln...) Leverkusen losses this season: Zero in 42 Yeah anything is possible but quite frankly it would be near impossible to get 3 over on one of the best teams around without conceding more. We need to focus on PL now and get a Euro spot, then ...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

Thing is, Leverkusen will be expecting to play a similar system in the second leg, so a switch to 4-2-3-1 could prove to be difficult for them, especially if we are aggressive early. The concern though is Paqueta and Emerson have left a massive hole on the left-hand side. I guess we'll have to switc...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

Don't get all the negativity. It was a good, resolute performance against a Champions League quality team. While the odds are heavily in their favor, it is certainly not impossible to force the tie into extra time in London.
