Re: West Ham Utd v Bayer Leverkusen: match thread (2nd leg)
Getting the balance right and not conceding when pushing for goals will be really tough. Think I would go really ugly in the first half and not risk space behind our defence. Really direct and Big Sam like, play Soucek behind Antonio and get crosses in from deep. Have big Tom pulling onto the back s...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
Its generally how the accounting treatment of players has been done for years. you recognise the "cost" to the P&L for the period that the asset is useful (the length of their contract). If you own a factory producing widgets, you spend £100m on a widget making machine that will last ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
Not quite: the whole sell price booked in one season, regardless of payment terms. The cost side of the sale is the value of that player in your books. So no, we couldn't directly use this year's profits to offset next year's squad cost control rules. There are levers we could pull to reduce this y...

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico
We had that spell when we looked absolutely hopeless when he wasn't in the team, which I think maybe exaggerated his importance to us, but we haven't actually improved that much since he came back. As usual the positive was way over exaggerated (imo) as is the negative. It lies someone in the middl...

Agreed we wouldn't be spending £50m on a RW, its probably our strongest position.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
Sorry fella this is a load of cobblers, where have you pulled these stats from? Ive heard more than enough pundits in the last few weeks saying that De Zerbi might not be all that, the bitch slapping he took off Roma seems to have damaged his stock some what (and rightly so) along with their league...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
For my money Kudus is Paqueta's replacement and will play centrally next season. Or Bowen will go up front. If Moyes stays then Kudus centrally makes sense playing like Lingard. Also Bowen isn't suited to his CF role. So a LW and CF funded by Paqueta would make us more balanced. Defence rebuild as ...

We aren’t getting better than him for that though so would be pointless?BobbyMooreLower wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 8:52 pm Could we get 10-15m back off the Saints if they get promoted this season?
Form has disappeared since playing out of position but can still contribute as a box to box next season imo.

Re: ✍ Welcome James Ward-Prowse
Surely the relevant question is "If you took out JWP's set pieces, are you happy with what is left?".Sadly the truth,IMO, is absolutely not and that could be applied to pretty much any point in the season. We scored from set pieces before JWP though. What's he got 8 assists from setpieces?...

Re: Where will we finish?
Wolves have the top 3 to play I'd be surprised if you get more than 7-8 points.
Brighton have a tough set so I don't see them getting more than 7 but likely less.
I think we need to win 2 games to secure 9th.
If betting I would say 10th.
Beat Chelsea, maybe just 8th.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
From all twenty PL-teams, only City and Liverpool have played more competetive matches, than we have. Surely a big factor. Especially for our squad, that has become paper-thin. Squad-selection today looked like fitness-levels had a big say on it as well. Villa surely? They have played 4 domestic Cu...

He literally never plays for a draw imo.Bubbles Fortuna wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 3:18 pm He won't though will he.
So boring reading that we play for a draw and 30% possession every game when it just isn't true.
He may want a game of few chances but that isn't the same.

Re: West Ham United vs Fulham FC - Sunday 14 April - 2pm
Ogbonna played in the 2-0 won at Arsenal, then the 0-0 with Brighton. Half the match vs Bristol City. Nothing since. Two out of three clean sheets against good attacking teams. Sure he could do a job vs Fulham. We played a low block vs Arsenal and Brighton. So if we intend to do that tomorrow he wi...

Simples!
Tbh if us getting ECL was dependent on Spurs getting CL I would take that deal every day of the week.
So I hope Newcastle don't win.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
Better how? Perhaps you mean for him to coach Antonio t be 5 years younger, or to run our youth keepers into brilliant forwards capable of turning the game on its head. I’m being facetious of course , but some of the level of discussion on this thread deserves nothing less. It is utterly anodyne. S...

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico
I get why he is upset when playing sometimes I do. It's hard, as a classy footballer to be playing the way we do at times, he wants to be on the ball and he would fit really well into sides like the Leverkusen side. But be a pro, do what is right for your current employers and suck it up. I think y...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
I don't think anyone deserves blame for last night. There isn't always blame. The team gave everything. If we had gone toe to toe in an open game I think we would have lost more heavily. In a one off, maybe you go a bit harder last 20. I think 2 legs suits a team like that, they can take their time....

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
Have a wander over to the Paqueta thread and you'll see what fans thought about his contribution last night. He was a petulant embarrassment who let himself, his teammates, his manager, the club and the fans down. Or maybe you'd rather bury your head in the sand and wheel out the usual anti Moyes t...
