Gibbs-White to play on the left and allow Paqueta to be more central
Good player but surely we can't spend big money again on another central midfield/attacker and play him on the left. Vlasic, Paqueta, JWP recently.
We need a genuine left sided player.

Re: England -v- Brazil & then -v- Belgium

I think Grealish, Gordon, Bowen, Rashford and Palmer are fighting over 3 spots and 10 weeks is a long time in football. Breaking it down like that we don't need 3 LW. So the two I'd go for is Gordon and Grealish. Then Bowen vs Palmer. Bowen. Both Rashford and Bowen are an option up front but I doub...

Hammer in Hornchurch wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 8:32 pm Rice could do a job at CB.
There is plenty of options in CM.
Doubt Southgate would do it, Arteta wouldn’t like it.
Rice is irreplaceable at CDM imo.
Konsa and Guehi are better CBs than Rice imo

Apart from shoring up the defence with Rice and someone else and then getting accused of going all defensive, am not sure what else you can do.
Do you mean Rice as a CB?

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Someone or multiple people at the club must have a desire to upgrade CM too, otherwise we wouldn’t have signed Phillips. I don’t think JWP has a future starting in that deeper role under Moyes. He just gets swallowed up there We wouldn't have signed Phillips if we weren't in EL imo, nor would we ha...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Personally, outside of his corners, i've been very disappointed with JWP this season. Id like to see us sign a starter to play with Alvarez and have those 2, JWP, Soucek & then Potts/Earthy as our CMs next season. Irving has zero chance of playing for us, he knows that, the club know that. It w...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Me and you have as much chance of playing for West Ham than Irving has (& probably Downes) If we have conference league or no Europe having those 2 home grown wouldn't be bad back ups tbh. I don't think we can be spending £30-£40m on a CM unless we have higher standard of European games. Plenty...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

We do that anyway...Chelsea could need £100m or could have won the lottery the same week and we'll still do the same thing. The only instances where fees often end up less are relegation and contracts coming to an end. Even still, relegation isn't the mad dash to sell players it once was. Tbh I'm n...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

It also means that anyone looking to buy from Chelsea between June 14th and June 30th will try to take advantage of Chelsea's financial predicament Reckon there will be a few deals announced early and formalised when window opens. But little will happen between 14th and 30th. Players will be at the...

Germany are 16th in world rankings.
We are 3rd behind Argentina and France.
Personally think Italy, Croatia, Holland, Germany area shadow of themselves.

Broja has played 47 mins for Fulham and they have now already had to pay an extra £4m because he cannot play 60% of games as agreed.
Horrendous deal.

He plays that role for Ghana and played AM more often than RW for Ajax according to transfermarkt.
Give him the role Lingard had and let him carry it through the middle.

If the unthinkable happens and Paqueta leaves, I want (demand) Kudus as the central AM, Bowen back on the RW then get in a LW and CF.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

I'm looking at it like this. Max squad size is 25 of which a max of 17 can be "non home grown". So theoretically a club doesn't need to have any but it would be a very threadbare squad. So to top up to the max of 25 we need to replace a few imo. Yeah it's a limit on non HG not a minimum H...

Not all other clubs wait till the window opens to start negotiating deals. They will have done a lot of ground work.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

I don’t think home grown will affect us too much if we decide on a smaller squad. If we qualify for Europe they’ll be tempted to get the numbers up but that feels unnecessary under Moyes anyway I think we have room for 3 more non homegrown grown. If Ogbonna (or even Coufal/Zouma/Aguerd) left that's...
