Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Leeds Utd: match thread

I don't think "keep them quiet" is the way to beat Leeds. We have to outscore them. They might get one or two. We might get three or four. Keep Vlasic in for me. I know what you mean but with our CBs out plus Soucek we are unbalanced and keeping Raphinha quiet would be a good idea. But th...

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Leeds Utd: match thread

I don't want to make it look like I agree with turtlecharityracer, who is an out and out troll, but I rest Vlasic for this one. Normal back 5. Rice & Soucek. Fornals, Lanzini & Bowen. Antonio up front. Yep I'd go for Fornals as a few others have said to try a keep Raphinha quiet. He is the ...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

I think the big work at CB will have to wait until the summer. Trying to sell Diop, deciding whether to offer Ogbonna a contract etc If we sign a CB this window i’d bet on Diallo from PSG on a loan with buy option. It makes a lot of sense especially considering he can play LB if needed PSG have sai...

That big Nigerian geezer? he was pony if I'm honest. Some others on here did rate him too, or maybe it was you! haha
Agree, technically he looked really poor.
Looks like someone who would do well in the Championship but in the prem would be option C.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

At this point I'd plunk an offer on the table, tell him 'there it is... you have our number', and stop pursuing. Jesse's sense of self importance is getting in the way of his making good career choices. He isn't as needed as he was last season. I'd love to have him back, but only if he really wants...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

Sorry that was a grammatical misunderstanding. I was commenting on how few traditional strikers are scoring lately and listing those three as the only three traditional strikers who are scoring goals. Right understood. Suppose teams spread goals around more but its an interesting point. Do you spen...

It's also worth noting how little traditional strikers are scoring this season.

Vardy - 9
Maupay - 7
Wilson - 6

The lone goalscoring striker isn't in vogue anymore.
Brighton play with 2 up front.
Wilson is a brick sh!thouse too. Hardly little.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

I'm not so convinced - we create and miss loads of chances at the moment, coming in from both wings, or played through the middle. I think Hernandes could feast on that. Yep but the problem with Hernandez was his build up play and team contribution was poor. If he is your striker you don't create a...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

I remember earlier in this thread we had discussed the "unlikely" nature of us going in for Calvert-Lewin. If Arsenal was the kind of club that were all over him but are now seemingly bending over for Vlahovic at any cost. Everton in disarray, if we do have £40-50m to spend on a striker I...

Do they have Phillips and Bamford?
Reports suggest Bamford and Rodrigo may be available but that suggests bench options.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

I think so. We can offer a similar level in a better league on better money. They are fighting for the Spanish title. More than likely will have CL next season and have won the EL six times in 15 years. Are you sure? Some players like a warmer climate. Yes we may well be able to get him. If we shel...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

I think fans have been very patient waiting for a second striker. I think fans are going to have to be patient until the last few days of the window. Teams are simply trying to get an extra 5-10m for their players. They will wait until the last minute to try and squeeze that. Fortunately/Unfortunat...

Re: The Cresswell Thread

Makes such a difference to the way we play. Not knocking Johnson but having a left-footed player with end product on the left is so important. Does the Cresswell Out mob even exist any more? Yep but we have split our forces and areccurrently camped outside Diop and Masuaku's houses. I have to admit...

Was Wood obliged to accept the transfer once the clause was triggered?
No the clause means Burnley had to accept Newcastle's offer.
Newcastle then have to agree a contract.

Re: ✍ Alex Král

Kral is only there just in case we get a midfield injury crisis & to be frank I wouldn’t want him anywhere near the starting 11 vs leeds. They will not stop running and we need players comfortable in possession to be playing It's a tough balance as leeds have always struggled physically against...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Window

De Telegraaf (most credible paper here) saying Nico Tagliafico to WHU from Ajax a done deal, only personal terms to be agreed, €12m. Absolute bargain if true, good LB, Argie international. My only doubt might be about his temperament, not sure what English refs are going to make of him 🤷🏻‍♂️⚒️ He s...

Re: ✍ Alex Král

Must be getting a game this weekend if Soucek and Noble are out?

Leeds will be far busier than Norwich and use the ball better.
Might need his energy and physicality. Plus his aerial presence.

If he can't get in now that must be it.

The worse part was when he held the ball way, way too long against Leeds and then chose the wrong option to Bowen for 2-0.

Get rid.

Other clubs appear to.navigate their way around this
Some clubs can over-pay. We can't.
We have money to buy a striker I'm sure. But not to pay 50% over the odds. See previous transfer disasters
