Re: ✍ Welcome Edson Álvarez

I’ve genuinely enjoyed watching Alvarez from the get go. Seems to cop a little bit of criticism here and there but I’m not seeing it that way. Ten Haag will surely be kicking himself that he didn’t go back for Alvarez when they’re screaming out for a hard working, defensive bulldog in the middle. Wh...

Re: West Ham United vs Brighton & Hove Albion: match thread

Not one team in this league, would be at their best if they were missing three of their most important players. No need to overanalyze things, tonight was a needs must for me, it wasn't pretty, it was never going to be, but it was a job done. Take the point, the clean sheet, and move on. I have to ...

Re: Liverpool v West Ham United: match thread

Hate to stick the boot in but I’ve lost count of the times a Liverpool player has run over 30 yards with the ball unopposed?! Is this an intended tactic or are we not working on defending one on ones? Utterly bizarre. Anyway let’s be honest it’s Liverpool, it’s a number of second XI players and we’v...

Re: Burnley FC v West Ham United - Match Thread

It’s clear to see that Moyes will continue with this brand of football for the rest of his career, whether that be with West Ham beyond this season or any other team he manages. In a world of tiki-taka, Guardiola style dominance it is less aesthetically pleasing but if all teams in the league were p...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Sullivan was hamstrung when Moyes won the ECL. I reckon, had he failed he would have been shown the door. however, it seems (and I stress seems asI have no proof) that Sullivan doesn't still see Moyes as the way forward, the only thing I can base this on, is after winning said trophy, he wasn't giv...

⚽PSF: Perth Glory 2-6 West Ham United (15/7/23)

Next up for West Ham is a trip to Australia, specifically the Western side to face Perth Glory before following up against Spurs in the same stadium 3 days later. I believe this is the first time we've ever visited the country, we were scheduled to come here back in 2020 but we all know why that nev...

Re: Summer Rebuild 2: Electric Boogaloo

Definitely liking the idea of Palhinha in as the defensive/destroyer pivot option and then someone alongside with more pace to be the box-to-box pivot option. That seems to me to be the clear strategy here. Whether JWP would be that second option or not remains to be seen but I believe Palhinha for ...

Re: What frustrates you the most when watching a football match?

Diving, feigning injury, 'tactical' fouling and most of all referees failing to deal with it. By a country mile. It’s a fairly recent phenomenon but it is prominent in pretty much every game in Europes top 5 leagues. It’s all about forcing the ref to make a decision. Milenkovic had a couple yesterd...

Re: The Sack Race 2022/2023

I can't tell you how annoying it is already as an Englishman and West Ham fan who (mostly) lives in Australia to have an Australian come over here and be Spurs manager. On a personal level, it's just extremely grating. I now have to hope he fails, and fails incredibly, even though I quite like him....

Re: Watching Outside of Europe

Same boat here with a 5am kickoff living in regional Queensland. Trying not to wake the household up whilst watching on the big screen. I have already told work I will be late as there is no chance I am driving into work if we go into extra time (or God forbid, penalties!). Also is it just me that ...

Re: 🏆 ACF Fiorentina vs West Ham Utd: match thread (UEFA Europa Conference League Final)

I've not really allowed myself to get excited up until today. Reading some forum posts, soaking up any media content I can get my hands on and listening to a couple of West Ham podcasts (We Are West Ham & The Ripple Effect w/ Nicky from West Ham TV.. both very good by the way) has switched my ex...

Re: Omens for the ECL Final

Couple of omens.. Firstly, I set eyes on this thread with 57 current replies. For myriad reasons this number has been really important to me over the last 5 years. That alone fills me with confidence. Secondly, I like many on here will be witnessing the 3rd major cup final as a West Ham & Englan...

Re: Watching Outside of Europe

5am KO here in Canberra. No fellow WHU fans that I know of here. I’ll be very much watching this one in the front room (standing of course), whilst trying not to wake a 4-week old and 22-month old. As a lifelong obsessive fan, season ticket holder, away day aficionado it’s slightly sad to be watchin...

Re: AZ Alkmaar vs West Ham Utd: match thread

The porousness of our defence this season means we can’t go into games hopeful of shutting out the opposition like recent years. Makes it all the more interesting. I fancy us to get the result and send us to our first major final since 2006, which seems like yesterday but was over 17 years ago!!

Re: West Ham Utd v AZ Alkmaar Europa Conference Semi Final Match Thread

Performance wasn’t vintage but we’re only a few days out from our best league performance of the season to all but confirm safety and European semi final first legs can be cagey affairs. Most teams will have that underlying mentality of making sure the tie isn’t lost so it’s understandable that neit...

Re: West Ham Utd v AZ Alkmaar Europa Conference Semi Final Match Thread

AZ haven’t been exceptional but played their patient football and have a goal on the counter which is pretty much the best they would have hoped for. The onus is now on us to press higher up the pitch and I believe we’ll catch them out. They’ve already given away a couple of sloppy passes in dangero...

Re: Everton Could Die (non WHU - tbtf)

They and Lukaku were our bogeymen for a good few years there. Goodison is an old stadium but reminiscent of Upton Park in many ways, I definitely wouldn’t want to see them go out of business. Having said that it looks like they’ll be in a huge financial mess if they drop and I can think of a number ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

And here come the usual suspects, piling in. I'll say it because none of you lot will. The players cost us that game tonight. There were some individual mistakes, no one can deny that. But ultimately it’s another poor performance. Bright start but we’re 2-0 down within 15 minutes. Defensive structu...
