We got spanked 5-0.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
Moyes likes his first eleven and doesn't manage the squad well. Ings is a prime example as he looked good at Sheffield and home to Burnley and then not given a chance, when at times he was needed and the obvious option. Is that going to make him motivated if/when given that chance? The subs know ev...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
Cornet could have easily given Antonio a break for 10/15 minutes at the end. He was playing wide left. It’s not like we had the ball anyway. I know a goal went in off his thigh a few months back but otherwise he s looked a.shadow of the player he was pre injury. Hopefully he comes good as I think w...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
Tonight showed our lack of depth and I place the blame at one door only and that’s our board. Leverkusen brought on a couple of players who changed the game and we had no such options. It’s as simple as that. Antonio was blowing after 60 odd mins, we had Cresswell on for the entire game. No other op...

Re: False Dawns
IMO, you can't just continuously improve (in relation to all the other teams who are trying the same) and expect to finish higher every year, get further in cups year on year, unless you spend a silly amount of money. Even then it's been shown to not guarantee success. I don't see this as a false d...

Re: ✍ Welcome, Kalvin Phillips
The one small positive I can take from yesterday is he looked better when he came on and impacted the game far more than any of our other midfielders (not saying much).
Start him over Soucek next week please Moysey!

Re: January transfer window
We’re not far away 4 good signings in the summer and we’re good to go IMO. Lw/cf in the Bowen mould to cover both positions but not necessarily a nailed on starter (not sure here tbh, liked the idea of Werner but huge wages and not really doing it at Spurs but someone of that profile) Cm who can cov...

Re: Ben Johnson
Thought he looked great today and I’d love for him to stay however I think he’d fancy his chances at starting in a bottom 6/7 prem team whereas I don’t think he’s going to ever be quite good enough for our starting 11. Depends what he wants/ what motivates him though. I think he’s plenty good enough...

Re: Sheffield Utd v West Ham Utd - Match Thread
Two big positives for me today are Ings dropping deeper and linking play and Johnson’s cameo. I thought Bowen didn’t look 100% fit but I think we had to play him given the alternatives and I find Zouma extremely awkward and uncomfortable on the left side of defence. Coufal should know better too. Re...

Re: The general standard of Moyes signings
Interesting read, thanks I would have had Soucek up there too a couple of years ago but I did think he was poor last season which has downgraded him a bit. Also agreed with the 25 games bit but I’ve taken that into account with the rankings. I think in a years time Kudus could easily be above paque...

The general standard of Moyes signings
I was going to put in the Moyes thread but felt it deserved a topic of its own. I read on another thread how the first 11 is now all moyes signings and this made me think more generally about the signings we’ve made since Moyes joined for the second time. I looked them up on transfermarket and havin...

A lot of talk about what a grafter he was but has quality on the ball too. A great player who I wish we’d signed a few years earlier. Enjoy your retirement Snoddy!

Re: January transfer window
I don’t think we need to make loads of signings, just be smart with who we do get in. A left winger who can cover up front (Werner would have been perfect - can Malen play through the middle?) frees up Paqueta to play in the middle if/when needed and Bowen on the right if/when needed. Then a CB/CDM ...

Re: West Ham United vs Manchester United: match thread
They’re having a terrible season and still are essentially doing as well as us. They’re no mugs despite what the media will have you believe.
I think we’ve got enough to win this but we have to bring our A game. Honestly if offered a well played for point I’d take it.

Re: Squad & Injuries.
I do think that two smart buys could see our squad depth improve dramatically. A dynamic left winger who could play up top allows us to utilise Paqueta more centrally, rotate Bowen, etc. The other is a lcb who can also play cdm. Offers an alternative to Aguerd who in turn become lb cover and covers ...

Re: ✍ Welcome, Konstantinos Mavropanos
He’s second choice rcb behind Zouma and I think £20m is a reasonable amount to spend on that player. Whether Mav is worth £20m is another debate. I personally think he needs more time but the weaknesses in his game are glaring.

Gerrard for me although I don’t remember Robson so can’t really consider him.
Best all rounder and conversely to a couple of other posters, I think best suited to the modern day game.
