TBF I checked out of curiosity (not a betting man myself) and the odds were largely in Bayer's favour even at 0:2. Won't buy a villa in the Algarve at 3/1.

Re: Other Matches 9 March - 14 March

Looking at this Qarabag squad, they don't have a bench, really. Must be the homegrown player requirements preventing them from just fielding 11 Brazilians and calling it a day.

Re: Other Matches 9 March - 14 March

Not seen any German football have they been good or is the quality of the league rubbish at the moment I've seen a few games here and there, I think it got a bit worse lately. You've got your Bayern, Dortmund and RB Leipzig at a solid level (and Leverkusen this season), and the rest is way down on ...

Granted this is the first time I’ve seen Leverkusen this season, but i dont see what all the fuss is a about
It's been a largely poor showing but I think they're focused on finally getting their hands on that first ever Bundesliga title.

Qarabag 2:0 up again, with 10 men. Bloody hell Leverkusen.

Just like in the first leg. Even though they're clearly a team assembled for a lot of oil money, they still only really have third-rate Brazilians and such leading the charge. It's quite insane that they got this far.

Re: Other Matches 9 March - 14 March

Leverkusen don't look like runaway Bundesliga leaders here at all. Passing the ball around well but looking vulnerable and somewhat toothless. Especially against flippin' Qarabag.

We could always go out to Qarabag which is the closest approximation... :chin:

Watching Bayer Leverkusen vs Qarabag now and oh man, I forgot that Bayer's longtime shirt sponsor is Barmenia which... certainly is interesting in a way for this particular tie. :crossed:

A much-improved performance from us but let's not take anything away from Freiburg who have been playing with the swagger befitting a high-flying Conference club this fine evening.

Re: West Ham United -v- SC Freiburg - 2nd leg match thread - 14.03.24

Antonio especially, he hasn't scored in 16... It would be nice but honestly, his physical presence alone is enough when he's on form. I always get a bit cross when forwards are boiled down to goals scored. As long as he's keeping the defenders busy enough for someone else to score, it's fine by me....

Wasn't it, like, Teddy Sheringham in the Championship or something bizarre like that?

Re: Ben White and England [non WHU]

Something must have happened when he was sent home from Qatar, and whomever he'd had a bust-up with must be still there, that's the easiest explanation.

Re: West Ham United -v- SC Freiburg - 2nd leg match thread - 14.03.24

I don't know how this Freiburg team managed to draw with Bayern recently, there's no quality whatsoever there. It's a travesty that we made them look competent in the first leg.

(and we still might do it again here if we revert to type)

European games are still the only way for me to watch West Ham live and I honestly don't know how I'd even deal with watching our style of play week in, week out. Forget Gegenpressen, this is Klinikaldepressen.

Oliver Glasner is in the country waiting for Palarse to announce him as soon as it's no longer awkward what with Roy being in hospital, could we maybe swoop in and "convince" him to take a different job instead? :crossed:

Re: Blue cards

I remember when they first came up with this stupid idea. It was at exactly the same time as the idea of stopping the match clock when the ball is out of play so that added time wouldn't ever be needed. The latter proposal made infinitely more sense so of course they're going with the former.

Gee Arsenal, maybe you should've taken at least one of your 200 chances.
