Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

After tomorrow all European club will be done for the year. It’s possible we and others are waiting too see the impact or tonight’s champions league final and tomorrow’s playoff final before making concrete plans. Interesting that Luca Jovic and Mariano Diaz dont even make Real’s bench.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

I would be well chuffed if we signed Broja. He is the closest thing to Antonio out there. Th difference is he’s 20 not 32 and has plenty of room for improvement. He has pace and power which are the two hardest attributes to develop, and the two that scare defences the most. He is definitely a bit ra...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

He might be out of our league, but I’d love to see us go in for Domenic Szoboslai from RB Leipzig. He’s only 21 and has a bit of Payet about him.
I’d also like to see us try to mend fences with Reece Oxford who seems to be realizing his potential.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Apparently it is going to be a ridiculous busy transfer market this summer. Arsenal are allegedly signing Serge Gnabry and Morata. Villa are signing Diego Carlos, Coutinho, Kamara and Suarez on obscene wages. Tottenham are signing Peresic, City have signed Haaland and Alvarez. Man U need a full squa...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Looks like Bayern are looking at Mane to replace Lewandowski and Liverpool will look at Pulisic and Sterling to replace Mane. I can see them trying for Bowen . Hopefully we stand strong.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

After today’s announcement of released players we have 18 senior players (not including Kral and Areola). Coventry would make that 19, and if we sign Areola that would be 20, but it is still a very small squad. That is before “listening to offers” for Soucek, Vlasic, Benrahma and needing desperately...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

It looks like we are going to get our transfers started with some bargains. Areola for £10.5M, Aguerd for £15M, Castellanos for £12m (all the MLS journalists say it’s a done deal, and a steal at that) and Lingard on a “free”. I really think we should be looking at Ellyes Skhiri from FC Koln who may ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

There are some silly amounts of money being thrown around. 175k a week for Boubacar Kamara is really stupid money. Real Madrid are spending some of the Mbappe money on Tchoameni for €80M plus bonuses that could be up to €100M. That should end the Rice is overvalued narrative. Tchouameni has 8 cpas f...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

I forgot to add that Burnley are truly F#$ed, as their leverage buyout depended on them staying in the premier league and the contingency plan was asset stripping. Everton are also in a ton of bother. Even without being relegated they have to sell players and will only be able to bring in loans or f...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

I think we are in an enviable position this year in terms of the transfer market. Man U need a complete overhaul starting with their defence and midfield, but they also need a striker and are going through a complete cultural overhaul. They are cutting their players wages because they are not in the...

Re: Stuart Pearce leaves the club

I don’t think Noble will jump into a coaching role. I’d be on the phone to Michael Carrick as he seems to be on the outside looking in on Ten Hag’s staff

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

We conceded 51 goals last year which is worse than 20/21s 47. That is after bringing in Zouma to “solidify”the defence. Our best defender this year was Craig Ballon Dawson who cost £2M and has been sent off twice and conceded 4 penalties I. The last two seasons. Masuaku, while skilful, is pub team s...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

You are right about Bordeaux. It is very sad, but the club is in a critical situation. There is almost no hope to avoid bankruptcy and the squad is very poor in quality. I doubt there is any of their player that could be interesting for a Premier League side. Lille is also on a thin line and defini...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

There are some French teams who desperately have to raise money. Lille, Lyon and Bordeaux being the most desperate. Bordeaux literally don’t have anyone to sell and in spite of a January bail out will likely go bankrupt. Their plight will likely deter any other bailouts of French clubs. Lyon and Lil...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

I’ve seen a fair bit of Castellanos being a Toronto FC season ticket holder. He’s an interesting player. A lot of his goals are penalties or as a result of Sunday league defending. I don’t think he can play as a number 9. He normally play as one of a 2 in a 4-4-2 or a 3-5-2. If he improves his work ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

After his reaction yesterday, I think Moyes is going to clean house with very few players safe. Antonio, Bowen, Rice, Zouma, Johnson, Dawson, Soucek and Fornals are pretty much locks to stay. You can probably add Cresswell, and if we can get a contract sorted Areola. Noble has retired and Kral is al...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

I think we need a huge overhaul this summer. We only have half a dozen players (if that) who have been consistently good all season: You could argue that number is as low as 2: Rice and Bowen. Antonio, Coufal, Areola, and Johnson have been good for most of the season. Some may argue Zouma and Dawson...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

I think Dennis is more like Antonio than Bowen. A bit of an Antonio light. He is very strong and very good in the air for not being very tall. While not as physical as Antonio, Dennis is better on the ball and a more composed natural finisher. I can see Moyes trying to use him in the Antonio role. W...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Apparently an are signing Jurrien Timber for £35M. Man U have spent over £160M on him, Varane and Maguire… not to mention what they have also spent on Bailly, Lindeloth and Jones. Ogbonna, Zouma and Dawson cost a combined £45M.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

I don’t think we will sign Rashford, mainly because bigger teams will be interested starting with Real Madrid as it looks like they are missing out on Mbappe (and PSG if they lose Mbappe). I don’t think money will be a factor in why we lose out on Rashford. He is at his lowest value in the last 5 ye...
