Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend

I think Bubbles is right. Noble is best when we play teams with an even lighter weight midfield than ours and in 'big' matches e.g. those against Tottenham. The rest of the clubs either sit on him or play around him because it's mostly a case of when you stop Noble, you stop West Ham. Unfortunately,...

Re: David Sullivan - Has he taken us as far as he can ?

Not a chance in my opinion. Personally i reckon they would struggle to get anywhere north of £200m, and that might be a push. The fact that Ashley can't get £300m for Newcastle who have been historically a 'bigger' club where they're the only game in town and have an equally rabid fan base, would t...

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager

Part of the problem for me seems to be that Pellers thinks that Lanzini is the next David Silva and is trying to build a team around someone who isn't 8/10 good every time he plays. He then has like for like replacements in the form of Fornals and Wilshere who are less talented and even more inconsi...

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager

It's all looking like the final Fat Sam season isn't it? We've got a decent team and we had a decent start, but it appears that we don't have the motivation and the wheels are falling off.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Newcastle United: Match thread (2/11)

By rights we should be 4-0 down. Haller is a waste of money: if we aren't able to give him the ball in a half decent area, we may as well have saved the money and played Hugill up front. Rice and Noble can't pass wind at the moment and Zabaleta is running in treacle: if he starts now, he might manag...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Newcastle United: Match thread (2/11)

This is really bloody awful and I guess it just goes to show how much we've relied on Fabianski at the back.

Struggling to see why Zabaleta is in the team and I've no idea what Ogbonna has done to get dropped as he looked like our best defender in the first few games.

TOTS ... several pints beyond the one that got you pissed, unrequited love and hand to hand combat.

What was the place on the south side of the A127 just west of the Halfway House? Was that Raquels?

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager

To me, this is starting to look like the season where we had Noble, Behrami, Collison and Parker in the centre of the park: four players who all did more or less the same thing, although at least now we've got players that don't want to stand in the same ten square yards of the pitch. Pellegrini has...

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread

We got what we deserved today. Three of our arguably first choice front four simply didn't turn up. Lanzini was awful, Anderson and Fornals not much better. Rice and Noble weren't great but, in their defence, they were simply overrun because those in front of them couldn't keep hold of the ball for ...

And if you're baffled by electricity, may I humbly recommend 'David Baddiel Tries To Understand...' Just goes to show that a first from Cambridge doesn't stop you from being a slack-brained ****wit. I've always been faintly puzzled by why we think that someone who knows who Raskolonikov was is a **...

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend

I think it's largely a matter of timing. When Mark was ready to step up from the U-21s, the likes of Gerrard and Lampard were still in the team and, with the best will in the world, they're better players. Now, when Livermore, Cleverly and Drinkwater were picked, you can't make the same argument but...

On the "circle drawn in the A-Z" principle, Leyton Orient. If I'd managed to avoid football in my formative years and, let's face it, I would have done as an Orient supporter, then Coventry City.

Much as I hate to say it, I reckon Spurs and Arsenal will take third and fourth behind Citeh and the Bindippers.

I honestly think that Leicester, Bournemouth and us could vey well be the best of the rest: I'm still going for sixth.

Re: ⚽Oxford United v West Ham United: LC R3 Match Thread

A reality check after the run of clean sheets & being 5th in the table. We have a goodish first 11 but weaker squad members. As someone said, we only have to lose a couple of 'star' players & then we're struggling. I'm sorry to say that imo, even our strongest 11 probably isn't good enough to get t...

Re: It's not just Man Utd fans....

We tend to know our place. Every decade or so we'll magically assemble the bones of a first-class side but something, or more correctly, a whole bunch of somethings that wouldn't occur at any other club, happens and it all goes tits up. Let's be honest, we all knew that Payet wasn't going to stay at...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Manchester United: Match Thread

I do like it when we hand out a good thrashing without really getting out of second gear. Haller is really something else: the little flick-ons and chest traps that fell at one of our midfielder's feet were absolutely top drawer and something that we've really missed. Nobes and Rice were excellent a...
