Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions

Whether they are playing chicken or not this is totally true. Realistically, the current arrangement can't run the remaining length of the club's lease (90 years) so it's just a matter of when things change. It's also true that the lease is a massive wrecking ball for any potential land or property...

I read it in a book about the history of West Ham and the ironworks. I can't find the book now. From what I remember the rivalry between areas pre dates football. The book definitely said Millwall were scabs, but I have no way of knowing how accurate it is.

I never checked the authors name but it turns out I know him, in fact I was the DJ at his wedding.

Re: Sociopolitical spectrum of football

I would imagine that we would have used to have been considered left wing by the old definition. We were in a traditional rough working class area, we were unionized, in fact our rivalry with Millwall goes back to a time when they were scabs and we were strikers. But that old definition of left and ...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

Just got back. Another amazing trip. West Ham everywhere all day in Cologne. Absolute nightmare getting the train over to the ground; so much for German efficiency. How did we sound on the tele? Seemed very noisy in there. I could mainly hear the home fans but when they dropped bubbles, massive and...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

Fornals and Benrahma being here or not had no bearing on what happened last night. I can scarcely imagine Moyes throwing Benrahma on last night at all even if he were here as he'd lost trust in him (imo rightly if you remember the Liverpool and Bristol City games) by the time he departed. Even if w...

Fatigue will be an issue, but we have to put out the strongest possible side. European qualification is still within our grasp and we need to do all that we can to achieve it. Also we owe these a pasting after what they did to us at their place.

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

I'm not buying that we were brave and battling. We surrendered the ball, sat back and what always happens happened. Yes they are a great side, but we showed them far too much respect. I would be a lot happier if we had had a bit of a go at them, instead of relying on the odd breakaway chance. If we ...

Commentator on dazn had just said that West Ham fans call Bowen 'Jarrodonna'. I have never heard any of our fans call him that
