Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I can't believe for one second that it was Sullivan's idea to bring in Tim. It feels like the total opposite of what he would do so I suspect it was part of Kretinsky's strategy prior to a takeover. Any sale of Paqueta will just come off the balance sheet.I can't really see how he can pocket it.I t...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Ludo, I don't think that the careful what you wish for is about west ham and being too big for your boots, more to do with knowing the owners and their history I get that side of the argument but when it is spouted by the media,I very much get the vibe that they are basically saying that "Moye...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I suspect we will part company. The natural ending of his contract adds to this feeling. The "contract on the table " sounded very wishy washy. Four years is a tremendous effort. We are better off for having David Moyes, he is better off for having West Ham. Surprising how many Everton fa...

Re: ✍ Welcome James Ward-Prowse

Surely the relevant question is "If you took out JWP's set pieces, are you happy with what is left?".Sadly the truth,IMO, is absolutely not and that could be applied to pretty much any point in the season.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

In the top half of the table there are only two teams on a negative goal difference, Manchester United on minus one and us on minus six. All the rest are positive. Get the defence sorted. Or possibly change to a manager who won't have the defenders actually defending for 90% of the game. Our system ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Moyes and Sullivan are equally culpable in getting us into this situation. Sullivan is a complete tool but, take out the con about the stadium, he hasn't been that tight with the funds. We seem to make buying a player like pulling teeth and I don't believe that is entirely Sullivan. The centre forward ...

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico

85m would comfortably buy an adequate replacement and leave quite a bit of change. I'm pretty sure we have seen the best of his performances in a West Ham shirt.

Re: ✍ Welcome James Ward-Prowse

I find this comparison to Noble as some sort of damning indictment of JWP really stupid from some posters. In his prime,Mark Noble was a terrific player who put in performances that JWP could only dream of.If there is a comparison to make,JWP is as good as Noble when Noble's legs had gone and could b...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

I was not entertained. We defended heroically, but gave away two preventable goals from set pieces. That isn't tiredness, just poor defending. Our inability to keep the ball when we finally have it was our undoing, yet again, along with our painfully small squad of 13 players. Leverkusen are a good...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread

Disappointing night and I am not at all optimistic about the return leg and, realistically, I think we may well lose that one as well.Just my opinion but I know Lever are unbeaten this season and Alonso is a genius etc etc but did we have to be quite so passive? We saw quite early on that they were po...

Re: Wolverhampton Wanderers v West Ham United - match thread

Ward Prowse hasn't given us anything for about 10 games. It's gone under the radar how uninfluential he's been. Even his free kicks have been *****. Really needs to step up. Another invisible one is Soucek bounding about like he's never played a forward pass in his life. Can't even head a ball thes...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Antonio may well have been out on his feet but changing the formation, rather than the personnel, was the issue. Imo the best way to manage a game is to retain posession. Instead of making any attempt to do this we took off the player who is best suited to receiving the long clearances from defence...

Re: West Ham Utd V Burnley: match thread - 10.03.24

Interesting thought. If Mav doesn't put that ball into his own net and we go in one goal down, would Moyes have made half-time subs? Obviously we'll never know but I have a feeling that we'd have come out 2nd half with the same line-up. It all made for a brilliant Jekyll and Hyde performance, very ...

Or would you rather 6x Said Benrahma's.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Athletes are just human beings and need to preserve their energy levels. Fact is, without that dreadful howler the plan would have worked fine. The players failed to execute, but redeemed themselves in the end. What I don't get is people don't seem to actually back their team nowadays. They expect ...

Re: West Ham Utd V Burnley: match thread - 10.03.24

A lot of those come from centre back. They either can't pass the ball at speed or act super weak in 1v1 defending. Aguerd's challenge before Fofana's was pathetic. On a level with several poor passes at no speed whatsoever from Mavropanos, who had his classic headline-making run all across the pitc...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

:thumbdn: :wine:  It is plainly obvious that the manager is prioritising Thursday, the biggest game of the season so far. I am amazed people will go on about having a go in the cups and then throw the toys out of the park after a game like today’s. People need to see the bigger picture and und...

Aguerd looks to have real issues and Mavropanos still is sooo extremely flaky.
Yet seems incapable of seeing our glaring issues in all the other positions.
