Re: UEFA Europa League 2023-24

Can’t ask for more than that. Yes it’ll incredibly tough but we’ve avoided Liverpool until the final, and given a couple of teams chances to knock them out so maybe we never to meet them. Leverkusen and then an Italian giant in the semis - this is what it’s all about ladies and gents. COYI! :scarfer:

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Huge credit to Moyes for tonight and our results in Europe in general as manager. Don’t think anyone could have done better.

Well that was bloody brilliant.

I’ve been critical of Moyes but you can’t question his record in Europe with us. Our greatest ever manager in European competition.

Bring on whoever (but please for the love of God not Liverpool).

Very happy with that half but worried about Paqueta, clearly struggling since he went down.

Re: West Ham United -v- SC Freiburg - 2nd leg match thread - 14.03.24

I know all the asking for the crowd to be up for it from Moyes, the players etc. can be a bit cringeworthy, but tonight is one where we really can play a big part. Let’s get right behind the team. This is our season on the line IMO and we don’t know when we might have a European foray again. COYI :s...

Re: West Ham United -v- SC Freiburg - 2nd leg match thread - 14.03.24

plenty of seats left so I guess the atmosphere will be poor again. such a shame as we need the 12th man effect ! I don’t think there’s really a big correlation between the stadium being ‘full’ and the atmosphere being good. I’ll be up for it on Thursday evening and I suspect many others will be as ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Well I mean yeah they are the only two options without spending more money, and we know who is controlling the purse strings. Unless you're blaming Moyes for not unearthing 6x 20m Lucas Paqueta's. Or you're suggesting that our youth players are currently as good as Said Benrahma is. In terms of our...

Or would you rather 6x Said Benrahma's.
Because those are the only two options?

Come on mate, it’s clear that Moyes has to take some blame for our squad being so thin.

Re: West Ham Utd V Burnley: match thread - 10.03.24

I think I’d probably blame the players for the first half rather than the manager. But then probably ask what the manager said at half time and why the difference in performance in the 2nd half. Out of interest, why do you think it’s the players’ fault rather than the manager? We’ve seen countless ...

Re: West Ham Utd V Burnley: match thread - 10.03.24

Every team has controversial decisions for them and against them. We are not the victims of some kind of systematic conspiracy If we stopped conceding legitimate goals then we wouldn't be at the mercy of iffy decisions Yep. We have been a bit unlucky with decisions recently but blaming the results ...

Where did you see that?

If true, I’d be playing Johnson over Cresswell for this one.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Moyes is the bloke who wins the lottery, but still take his sandwiches to work in a plastic bag and drives to Dorset for a long weekend rather than go to the Seychelles. Yesterday, when we needed to, we battered them. But before that, we gave them so much respect that we allowed them to bully us. W...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I’m absolutely buzzing for Thursday. But if we lose against a side we’ve beaten twice in the same season, the knives are going to be out. It was very clearly in the air today all around me, people can say whatever they want on here, but the crowd inside the stadium will turn, and it is turning. As ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Would it? It was dull, no doubt, but Burnley scored two freak goals and other than that it was a nothing half. Hardly a disaster like Fulham or Arsenal. We were playing at home to the side bottom of the league with three wins all season. Our only real shot was from our centre half running forward b...

Aguerd looks to have real issues and Mavropanos still is sooo extremely flaky.
By all accounts he is also the one who really wanted Phillips.

Re: West Ham Utd V Burnley: match thread - 10.03.24

We did enough to win today, and should have had a penalty right at the end. I think we showed great character to come back from 2 goals down, and honestly if he was a less divisive manager would be getting credit for it. Especially making subs at half time and the equaliser coming from a substitute...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

'Undeserved' is in the eye of the beholder. Some people seem to believe that every half-arsed shot and fraction of a chance against us 'should' have gone in. Ascribing everything to 'luck'. I could quote xg stats that show we are 15th in the league this season, but I know some on here don’t like th...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

With all due respect how are they 'deserved' or other wise. It's not like last minute winners are a result of dubious reffing etc. It matters because people say things like ‘if we’d just taken our chances…’ (prime example, Freiburg away just gone) when we don’t win, to take the blame off Moyes. But...
