Re: West Ham Utd v Bayer Leverkusen: match thread (2nd leg)
Brilliant from them all
Can't ask for more in terms of effort and guts
You did yourselves proud, the manager and coaching team proud, us proud.
Put that in between now and then end of the season and the European dream can continue

Re: West Ham Utd v Bayer Leverkusen: match thread (2nd leg)
There are three things that I have complete and utter faith in, and that I will believe until the day I die:- 1. My wife is the best person I have ever or will ever meet. 2. Thai sweet chilli sensations are the best crisp ever created. 3. On their day, West Ham United can beat any team in the world...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
Lopetegui Yep, yep... that feels about right. Yep... definitely Sullivan making the decision. Very Grant. Very Pellegrini. Very vanity. Higher profile name with a higher profile salary here for the joy of the paycheque. 18 months at max before he's lost the will to work with Sullivan (ala Wolves...)...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
Surely Jonathan David is gonna move this summer with only one year left. When I have seen him he doesn't look good enough for the likes of Arsenal as previously touted but he has looked like a hard worker and team player with good speed and quality. Does his defensive duties and presses that Moyes ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
OK but you said replacing Paqueta with MGW is pointless as JWP has better numbers. Not as a number 10 in open play he doesn't and that's what we would be hoping to replace. JWP could play LB and most of his numbers would be similar. That's not a criticism but imo it does mean he cannot go into that...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
absolutely baffling take - they're quite similar if anything if you take opinion and bias out of it - their statistics are very similar in terms of passing, carries etc take a look for yourself https://fbref.com/en/stathead/player_comparison.cgi?request=1&sum=0&comp_type=spec&spec_comps...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
Are you saying JWP has better numbers as a number 10 than both Paqueta and MGW? Are you counting set pieces? Putting in a good corner doesn't make him a good number 10. If we went for MGW he would have to play centrally and we would still need a LW option. I'm saying if if the argument is that MGW ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
weakening? not sure where is being weakened when MGW has been numbers than paqueta in an arguably worse team Because he is a worse player and doesn't play anything like Paqueta. If you want numbers, just play JWP in the role (better numbers than them both). Job done, 60 million to be reinvested in ...

Re: West Ham Utd v Bayer Leverkusen: match thread (2nd leg)
Last week I didn't feel nervous
This week I feel petrified! Not because I think we'll get smashed... but because I think we'll come close to doing something special but just fall short.
Handbreak off... **** it if it means getting a pasting!

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico
Yep, that's exactly his position. Quick passes and running with the ball when needed. He would very well into their current team. Watching Man City struggle to break teams down a few times recently (yesterday once they scored... against Arsenal a couple of weeks ago)... Paqueta is perfect in those ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
Personally I don't think whether we are in Europe or not (unless Champions League) will have much impact on our ability to attract players Conference League and Europa League is unlikely ti be a sway for the best players we can aim for, and then for the players in the level below that playing in Pr...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024
He’s a CAM/LW. Very different player to JWP, and carries a lot more threat in the final third. Personally I’d be happy with MGW as Paqs replacement next season. Bowen, Kudus, MGW behind a striker. He's closer to JWP than he is Paqueta for me... he's just played further up the pitch with different e...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
If either Newcastle or Villas manager left in the summer to go to man utd (ie not sacked) I do not believe either would go for Moyes if available, they would look to Europe imo. Maybe Marco Silva. I'm pretty sure any team outside of the usual CL teams would appoint Moyes as first/second choice if s...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
I can confidently predict that neither Aston Villa’s nor Newcastles hierarchy would be looking in the direction of David Moyes if either of them part ways with there manager The hierarchy that appointed Gerrard or Dean Smith wouldn't appoint Moyes? The hierarchy who may face some serious FFP issues...
