With no Europe a smaller squad is of course easier to manage.
I think it makes a bit of difference... I don't think it makes that much difference to be honest.

Quality of targets? For sure... but numbers, I'm not so sure.

Re: The kids are all right

Big misrepresentation ? I think not. “18-years-old was the young (age) probably a few years ago. But certainly I think it’s moved more towards 21 now for players in the Premier League.” Seems to suggest the manager believes players below the age of 21 are less likjely to be ready for PL exposure th...

DDA has posted it

As suspected... a big misrepresentation on your part :newthumb:

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

re. striker, we need to channel our inner gammon and buy from within the British Isles (either by nationality or those currently playing here) or don’t bother. No more foreign muck. How many times are we going to do this? It’s going to cost more but that’s because we’re bad at it so we have to pay ...

Re: England -v- Brazil & then -v- Belgium

A very entertaining half of football Bowen looking very comfortable in the team... Toney showing he can do it with quality around him... he'd be very good in our team with Paqueta, Bowen and Kudus feeding off him. This England midfield has to be the first choice 3 from here on... they look fantastic...

Re: Andy Irving

The arrangement between clubs makes sense and is pretty mutually beneficial. It won't be a bad level for our kids to get some experience.

Chucking Andy Irving into the mix... it's just odd but **** it. Bring on a new cult hero...

Mainoo simply hasn't done enough for Man U for me to dislike him yet.

He looks good though. I'd certainly like to see him, Rice and Bellingham start to work on playing together.

Get Branthwaite in there too.

These 4... Saka, Foden... exceptional group of young players.

Re: The kids are all right

Our manager is supposedly on record as saying that a player needs to be in his twenties before being physically developed enough for the rigours of first team football. I would counter that argument by saying that Kobbie Mainoo (18) has just made his international (not PL but INTERNATIONAL) debut a...

ex says we watched Fotis Ioannidis for Greece in the play off (he scored) and we are again tomorrow. We are still interested in him Found his goalscoring touch now in Greece...even preferred to Pavlidis (who is scoring for fun in the Dutch league) in their Euro qualifier this past weekend. A few clickbait links to Charlie Hughes today... 20 year old CB at Wigan

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Chelsea basically have to sell £100m worth homegrown players between the 14th and 30th June or face a points reduction Does Maatsen count as homegrown? If so, you have him, Lewis Hall and Gallagher who will cover the vast majority (if not all of it) I think they'd rather take the potential points d...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

We need competition in the middle that's for sure, he is 27 and 169 premier league appearances This season he has 7 goals I think he would be an excellent addition to our midfield Also would be a good back up for Alvarez when he serves a suspension I'm not doubting his quality. He'd be sterling com...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

McTominay is up there with Gallagher as not really fixing any issues in the team bar maybe incremental improvement to a first team spot for significant amounts of money. That incremental uplift doesn't seem worthwhile given the real improvements that money could be directed on to the squad (FBs, ST,...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Seen nothing from Kilman to suggest he's a 30/40m player. He also doesnt seem to be rated that highly outside of this forum. You never hear his name even mentioned when it comes to England. Just seems like a run of the mill decent mid - lower table CB to me. For me, he's a similar to the level Tark...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Spot on. We are on to something with our front 4 and if one leaves we need a like for like replacement - forwards as opposed to midfielders. What we need in midfield are generals that permit our forwards to play. One may venture forward whilst the other sits but not ‘box to box’. It’s hard to think...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

Every player on the pitch, aside from the Brazil back 5, will be very well known to them, surely? TBF, their back 5 seemed to cope quite comfortably in open play except at RB. The left back, Wendell, is 30, but one year on his deal and at Porto - who were also scouted recently. And Wendell used to ...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2024

I'd be happy if we signed Toney... I just don't see it as realistic. He's a lot more of a sure thing in our set up than most out there. As a side.... something else to consider is the continued growth of the Saudi league A player like Zouma or Aguerd could attract significant fees and command high w...
