Re: Little things in life that make you smile

Caroline's Headset, Spaceworm, and Raisin Spaff all had me in tears. I was walking the dog listening to Caroline's Headset and I think the people I went past thought I was mental. For a minute there I thought this was a transcription of John Redwood's attempt at at the Welsh national anthem

He didn't particularly enjoy his time up North when he managed Burnley.
To be fair that was mainly due to having a young family that he didn't want to move from the south coast so he was living away from home most of the week, plus perhaps he wasn't ready for the challenge.

Re: Hillsborough

In a former life I made life and death decisions. Ive always tried to associate with being faced with a situation where people were being crushed up against a gate. Open it? Or keep it shut and possibly be faced with fatalities and therefore responsible. Would I have considered the knock on effect?...

Re: I hated them.....but now I don't.

Warne is a good shout, I met him when he played for Hampshire and one conversation changed my mind.

I really disliked Ben Fogle for ages, then I watched a couple of his new lives in the wild programmes and started liking.

Re: Little things in life that make you smile

Young girl stood outside the gym at lunchtime wearing a cropped top, and a pair of those exercise leggings that were so tight they might have been painted on. Whatever man convinced women that that's the sort of clothing they need to wear to exercise in deserved a knighthood. Or a peerage. Or Princ...

Re: Your Man Cave

Mine is basically the conservatory. Nobody else goes in there this time of year because it's freezing. It guarantees me peace and quiet. So long as there's a computer in there, I'm happy. Last autumn/winter the conservatory became my painting studio, the light is obviously better than in the cabin ...

Me proposing to the missus after a few beers while she was watching "24 Hours in A&E".

She said yes by the way.
Has she sobered up and changed her mind yet?

Seriously, congratulations to you both - I'm not sure that your beard will go with white though.

Thought I'd tugged a ligament or something only to eventually find out it could well be something much more serious.

Of course, the elephant in the room is - we have all this media and data, but how long until the day that the file format its saved in becomes obsolete and we simply cant access it any more? I've worked for a variety of companies and government departments where this is a serious risk, some of the ...

Re: Little things that irritate you

There's awful footage online of a poor pet rabbit in a hutch, shivering from the fright of fireworks & then finally dying of fear causing a heart attack. What irritated me was that instead of filming, there seemed to be no attempt to physically comfort the poor thing or even take it indoors. Don't ...

Re: The lies that tarnished West Ham's good name

But the question I asked as regards would we have behaved the same way as the management and supporters of Sheff Utd hasn't really been answered (I think). My guess is we would have screamed blue murder and done everything we could. I was working in Sheffield a lot at the time of this saga, in an o...

Re: Little things in life that make you smile

A surprise 50th birthday party organised for me on Saturday by my missus. She'd had been planning it since January and managed to get a load of mates (the furthest travelled was a mate who came all the way from Germany), people from work, family and people I hadn't seen in ages (in some cases years...

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread

I feel we’re trying to be a bit Man City lite, manoeuvring the ball to find space out wide, get to the by-line then low across the box for a tap-in. Haller has got a few goals like that already. We are definitely not banging in high crosses to head on plenty of occasions when players could, which m...

Re: Subbuteo

My subbuteo is in our attic, I couldn't bare to part with it. We used to have a league at school, and even in our early twenties it was not unknown for us to get together for drunken tournament. For some reason our league used Scottish Premier League teams, I suspect it was because more than one per...

Re: Little things that irritate you

Was thinking cramp shouldn't really be continuous & long lasting. Do you remember how/when you did it, HH? When I couldn't stretch it off I thought I had just pulled the muscle, as you say shouldn't last a few days. The really annoying thing is that I can't remember when I did it. In work yesterday...

Re: Little things that irritate you

More than an irritation for sure, but finding out at my wife's 20 week pregnancy scan yesterday that the baby was no longer viable, and now having to decide what to do about it. none of the options are particularly appealing Definitely not a little thing. Best wishes to you and your wife, hope ever...

Re: Little things that irritate you

I've been struggling with a pain very like cramp in my left calf for over a week, didn't seem to go away. Finally phoned GP up for advice and was told to pop in. Turns out I have a grade 2 tear in my calf muscle, grade 1 is a slight strain and grade 3 is totally torn, requiring surgery, so sounds li...

Re: Little things that irritate you

I pulled up a a petrol station, driving an SUV and I was unsure whether the hose would reach round so pulled up with the pump on the filler cap side. There was a car at the pump with the driver sat inside, so I assumed that he would drive off soon, plus the pump in front was out of use. I could see ...

And divide by five.

The lightning strike is as good as instantaneous, sound travels at around 5 seconds per mile at sea level.
We told her about counting seconds and it totally ****ed her but I didn't know about dividing by 5.
