Re: Are YOU happy at the Olympic/London Stadium?

Do I hate the place? No, I just find it soulless and all a bit meh. If we had moved into a modern identikit stadium, just like most recent ones, that would have been bad enough but the bowl is too large. Too many seats are just too far from the action and the crowd noise seems to escape rather than ...

Re: RIP Fred Wickert aged 87

RIP Fred, great dedication over the years.

I just hope that there are plenty of people still in the ground at the 87th minute to applaud Fred, and a good West Ham victory in his memory.

Re: Solos singles holidays

It can be a bit hit and miss, depending on your group. I did one where there was 10 of us, 5 women grouped up and basically spent the time shopping and drinking. One extremely boring bloke. Myself, one other bloke and two women went round mostly as a group and had good time. Second time I didn't rea...

Re: 2nd Hand Car Considerations

Best time of year to buy a motor in my opinion. Dealers have just two months to shift out their used stock and ex-demos before another glut of former PCP cars get returned to the dealer in time for the new plate on March 1st. <snip> If you don't mind going a bit older, as in cars 3 years old or mor...

Re: David Moyes

Truth be told there is not a huge points difference between tenth and eighteenth, but we were looking like a team in freefall and unlikely to move up. A top ten finish is still achievable with very little in the way pf improvement, just getting the team organised defensively, which you would think M...

My wife is ill so I'm not there, the annoying thing is I've had a feeling that we will win this one all week - then I see our lineup and back to thinking that we're buggered.

Re: Away tickets 2019 / 2020 season

Anybody have a prediction as to how many points will be needed for Leicester? I have 5 (I blame getting married and not being as devoted to West Ham  ), but my lad wants to come who isn't a season ticket holder. I don't know whether to hope they go to general sale (and get myself a point) or s...

The Battle of Santiago What I don't understand is that Chile didn't seem to have anyone sent off? One clear punch right in front of the linesman and one rugby tackle, plus they weren't blameless before then with several kicks and studs up tackles, even in 1962 it's hard to believe that a punch is n...

My condolences to Gavin's family and friends, 42 is no age and he came across as a nice bloke. Gavin was passionate about our Club. I had the pleasure of meeting him when he was trying to fund the purchase and transport of a Thames Ironworks ship to be moored outside the OS. He had a vision to make ...

Re: ⚽ Southampton v West Ham United: Match thread (14/12)

Normally this is one of the games I make sure I go to, nearest away game, but I really couldn't be bothered to get a ticket and put up with the abuse from saints fans. Saying that, it would be typical West Ham to win this so that the board have an excuse to give the manager just a bit longer. It is ...

Caroline's Headset, Spaceworm, and Raisin Spaff all had me in tears. I was walking the dog listening to Caroline's Headset and I think the people I went past thought I was mental. For a minute there I thought this was a transcription of John Redwood's attempt at at the Welsh national anthem

He didn't particularly enjoy his time up North when he managed Burnley.
To be fair that was mainly due to having a young family that he didn't want to move from the south coast so he was living away from home most of the week, plus perhaps he wasn't ready for the challenge.

Re: Hillsborough

In a former life I made life and death decisions. Ive always tried to associate with being faced with a situation where people were being crushed up against a gate. Open it? Or keep it shut and possibly be faced with fatalities and therefore responsible. Would I have considered the knock on effect?...

Warne is a good shout, I met him when he played for Hampshire and one conversation changed my mind.

I really disliked Ben Fogle for ages, then I watched a couple of his new lives in the wild programmes and started liking.

Young girl stood outside the gym at lunchtime wearing a cropped top, and a pair of those exercise leggings that were so tight they might have been painted on. Whatever man convinced women that that's the sort of clothing they need to wear to exercise in deserved a knighthood. Or a peerage. Or Princ...

Mine is basically the conservatory. Nobody else goes in there this time of year because it's freezing. It guarantees me peace and quiet. So long as there's a computer in there, I'm happy. Last autumn/winter the conservatory became my painting studio, the light is obviously better than in the cabin ...

Me proposing to the missus after a few beers while she was watching "24 Hours in A&E".

She said yes by the way.
Has she sobered up and changed her mind yet?

Seriously, congratulations to you both - I'm not sure that your beard will go with white though.

Re: Little things that irritate you

There's awful footage online of a poor pet rabbit in a hutch, shivering from the fright of fireworks & then finally dying of fear causing a heart attack. What irritated me was that instead of filming, there seemed to be no attempt to physically comfort the poor thing or even take it indoors. Don't ...
