Re: ⚽ Arsenal v West Ham Utd: match thread

The offside rule needs looking at, its not VAR its the offside rule that's the problem, how can a striker be stood in the box and not interfering with play but if a defender is laid on the floor by the touchline he is playing everybody on, if you're on the pitch then you're interfering with play, s...

Re: The 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup

I may be getting old & forgetful but I'm sure the translation of the offside rule used to be that if any part of the player was level with the last defender then they were ONside, in the same way that the WHOLE of the ball has to cross the line to be out of play (I think the phrase CLEAR DAYLIGH...

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend

Jim Standen. Our only FA Cup and a European Cup winning Goal Keeper. I'd put him well ahead of the likes of Noble for naming a stand too. The Standen Stand :D If I remember correctly he was better than Yashin (also ... Geoff Hurst was better than Eusebio, & Munich were in for a thrashin' :scarf...

Re: ⚽ Brighton & Hove Albion v West Ham Utd: match thread (5/10)

Jevs, Korea.....I live a few miles away but I am astounded by the amount of lifelong Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea etc fans who suddenly became lifelong Brighton fans once they moved into Falmer. This is why I have a great animosity towards an otherwise completely non offensive club such as Br...

In this case there is no hyphen in its. Not used in a possessive sense. I couldn’t resist either. :) Apostrophe, even ? Possessive = its, Contraction of the words it is or it has = it's http://www.k12reader.com/punctuation/the_important_apostrophe_it-s_and_its.pdf Here endeth the lesson ;) (TOTALLY...

Re: West Ham United v Queens Park Rangers: match thread

Rather shocked that neither the commentator nor Pleat could work out why the Valencia goal was ruled out. You'd think a rudimentary knowledge of the Laws of the game would be a minimum qualification for the job: Law 13 - free kicks Position of free kick Free kick inside the penalty area Direct or in...

"]Avram Grant’s wife believed in external powers, too. I watched spellbound at an Upton Park game as Tzofit Grant chanted over the Torah, ****ing pages and rubbing beads." Not entirely sure that that should be asterisked out, but, regardless, what on earth could it have been? Maybe CH mis...
