Re: West Ham Utd v Bayer Leverkusen: match thread (2nd leg)

In combination, for sure, but they each have weaknesses (as does Mavro).

The basic reason why we are in negative goal difference and have conceded as many goals as Liverpool and Arsenal combined.

Re: West Ham Utd v Bayer Leverkusen: match thread (2nd leg)

I thought Kurt Zouma was excellent. I watch him warm up before games and he looks physically broken. His body has seen better days. Despite all this Zouma always puts in a shift and gives 100%. I really wanted Zouma out of the team a few weeks ago as i thought he was a liability. But in the last few...

Re: FA Cup replays scrapped

If they're set on making this change, they should at least revert to a more modest number of permissible subs. Man City / Man U / Chelsea / Arsenal etc have enough of a clear advantage, but, if they can change half their outfield players during the match, they are practically completely insulated ag...

Re: Crystal Palace v West Ham Utd - Match Thread

Palace will probably attack us as much as they can, because they are light/struggling in defence and will want to avoid too much of the game being played in their half. I understand OIise and Eze are both fit. The whole team combined to score a great goal at Anfield last weekend. They are however on...

Re: Educate me about.....

British Punk Rock is The Who played badly, but 1.5x as fast. I think that their first 3 albums are stone cold mod classics, but the band definitely did have an edge to them - almost like a persona created so as to make people either love or loathe them with nothing really in between. Pete Townsend's...

Re: ✍ Welcome Edson Álvarez

His progress next season is the most interesting thing about it, for me.

If he can temper his conduct, and perhaps pick up only 50% of the cards he got this time around, I reckon he will ensure that we are in the top half. He is dogged and skilful.

A great blend around which to build a team.

I don't think his performance ultimately cost a place in the semis.
Agreed, Alonso biting the bullet and taking a player off before halftime was what, for me, made the difference.

Re: West Ham Utd v Bayer Leverkusen: match thread (2nd leg)

That massive, fantastic effort was of course unsustainable, as much as it was also brilliant to watch. We had them well and truly rattled. Seems like the situation got to the coaching staff, first, and then the ref. He seems to have totally lost the plot at one stage. I can't really express a great ...

Re: West Ham Utd v Bayer Leverkusen: match thread (2nd leg)

We are going to miss them both, of course, but Emerson's absence from our defence is probably going to be more telling. He's versatile and his replacement is a lot older, shorter and not somebody who has played much football recently. I have had this feeling all week that we are going to score, but ...

Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now

The Boxer is literally one of the best songs ever written, imho. Wonderful lyrics and beautiful harmonies.

That truly is a great album, too :newthumb:

If you want another classic from the 70's bunk:

Yes, he'll look better in the best team in the world.

Hardly surprising.

Paquata is proven and he will fit them

He's worth every penny.
Silva was literally one the best players who has ever played in the PL.

Paqueta is a rung or two lower than him on the ladder, at best.
