Re: Newcastle Utd v West Ham Utd - Match Thread
What annoyed me the most is us putting the ball out every time they had a player go down. Go and kill the game off. That's as we were in control and coasting until that penalty in fairness Their players were dropping like flies and we look like we would get another on the break Although in hindsigh...

Re: ✍ Welcome, Kalvin Phillips
Yea, but we don't have a like-for-like replacement, so you shuffle the system. We were already under the cosh before Phillips came on and it made sense to try and tighten things up at that time. Why change a working system unless you have to, there was no need for the sub Mubama for Antonio IF he w...

Re: ✍ Welcome, Kalvin Phillips
First of all it was never a penalty in a million years Half way through clearing the ball Gordon stick his leg in front of him, if anything a foul on Phillips for anyone that's played football. The biggest problem he has is he is always brought on on for the wrong player, if it had been Fornals or L...

Not a pen in a million years, Phillips didn't know he was there and was clearing the ball
Gordon has put his leg in the way from behind when Phillips was clearing it

Soucek JWP hasn't worked and have no reason to think it will today either
Phillips should have played, he can't get minutes if he doesn't play and when match fit is a better option than Soucek

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
The elephant in the room is Soucek again and in fairness it nearly worked but if he doesn't pop up with a goal is is often pretty useless at keeping the ball and passing. Both JWP or in particular Phillips could have got some more minutes being fresher. Keeping the same shape and giving Mubama a run...

Yes VAR has saved this thread from exploding todayBonzosBoots wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2024 4:14 pm This. The substitutions were terrible and almost unforgivable.
Difference today was the managers intent through subs
The only time he don't use Ings is after he actually scored

Terrible use of subs as often the case and didn't want to win enough
As for the VAR that is criminal

Surely the next 10 mins decides it, losing after that Arsenal game to Forest is embarrassing.

Re: Nottingham Forest v West Ham United : match thread
I'm surprised at how many people are omitting Soucek from their products starting XIs. That's as they are picking out best available team not the team they think Moyes will pick. Our best midfield three available are Alvarez, Phillips and Ward-Prowse The left wing is the ? Whilst Paqueta is still o...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
Merson just said “That’s not a David Moyes Team” Whose team is it then? Soucek and Johnson at left wing say Hi  That's not in reflection of either today but persisting with a CM that can't pass or keep possession along with playing right backs or CMs at left wing with a left winger on the ben...

Re: Manchester Utd vs West Ham Utd: match thread
Not sure about all the anger towards Soucek. It's his sort of game and he won't be as far forward (hopefully). Him in the team wasn't the biggest problem the other night. 2 of them were starting all 4 of them and what we had out wide. That's been changed. Yes it was the problem as it meant playing ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
Taking Emerson out of the role he's best at and has been crucial for us this season would make little sense. Emerson at LW and Johnson at LB for the next match is not as weak or bad than sticking Ward-Prowse or Phillips on the wing to accommodate Soucek. Simple as that, if Alvarez, Phillips and War...

Re: January transfer window
C&H saying their source says the problem was down to a problem with FA computers and we couldn't do anything about it until after the match. In other words saying it wasn't our fault. That makes it worse, before I thought we did it to benefit the team as we didn't sign anyone... I'd rather an u...
