I thought the ref did a tremendous job. I remember only one poor call. The only negative thing to say about him is that he didn't card any of the diving Portugese, however, a case might be made that he was showing restraint to keep from suspending players for the final. I did think that Saha's card ...

To me this smacks of the message "Grown men don't cry". I completely and utterly disagree with you. I want to see players who give a damn to be honest and there were a few this World Cup who I felt casually strolled their way through. Rooney made a mistake in his sending off, a big one BUT he is a ...

How can you say for sure it was deliberate? I'm with Kludge on this one. As for the push - this World Cup and the standard of refereeing has been a f*cking joke ... too often they've decided the game, not the players ... Underno circumstances is a push a red card offence. What's more, how is it leg...

What a stupid thing to say. Its not a war mate, its a game of football. Again, what presence can he have from behind the dugout? I'm willing to bet that no england player even noticed him crying? Plus did you see him before the penalties wishing everyone luck? Bellend. It's hardly a stupid thing to...

i dont think beckham did anything wrong at all. I think its another case of everyone blaming beckham as we lost. Hes been used as a scapegoat way too many times. I agree that we disagree, however you're projecting with the rest of your statement. I don't blame Beckham for the loss, and I'm not scap...

How is he meant to lead from the bench? He's not the manager or coach, he's not allowed in the technical area. He's not allowed to shout instructions. In other words, he can't do anything. Which is why he was crying. A leader leads by his presence, by being resolute, by being silently strong. He ne...

All these people slating Beckham really do need to get a grip on themselves. The guy was crying because he was GUTTED he couldn't contribute to England's biggest game to date. Please tell me what you would think if Reo-Coker had gotten injured and couldn't play a part in a massive game for us, yet ...

I have to say, I thought his display of crying on the bench for a halfhour after he left the match was shameful. It was mid match and he was still ostensibly the 'leader' of the team. be upset for a minute, but then lead, don't snivel like a 2 year old. What the hell kind of message is that sending ...

I know that, just saying that forget Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Holland and Portugal, I dont think we'd beat them. But it could all be so different. In some ways Owens injury could be a blessing in that it means we will have to play a holding midfielder which will allow us to play to Lampard and Ger...

Haymayzing as it may seem, yes. Remember England didn't qualify for '74 and '78 and by '86 Brooking was finished. Brooking and Keegan were brought on towards the end of a game vs Spain, Keegan narrowly failed to score with a header (from a Brooking cross?) and that was the end of both their interna...

At least we'll get an interesting last day of football from this group. Seems to me that both matches should start at the same time to ensure full effort from all squads.

I think that ref must have been on the Juventus payroll. A yellow for Mastroeni yes, but a red, give me a break. Props to US for leaving their mark, although for the life of me I cannot understand why Arena did not use his last substitution in the last 10 minutes. The Italians were dead on their fee...

On the evidence thus far, it won't matter which side England plays. That said, you'd be better off with Ecuador, me thinks. If nothing else, Germany is playing with a lot of passion right now. They're not a great side, but they'll be hard to beat at the moment.

I have to say, while Robben was clearly a standout on the Dutch side, it looked to me like he decided to ignore the rest of his team mates on the pitch. When given the choice to feed his strikers from distance, he chose instead to shoot or to break for the byline. Effectively, he was the reason Van ...

The graphics are still driving me crazy though. TBH, I watch the latin channels. I just can't stomach a pre match discussion moderated by Brent Mussberger. He wouldn't know a football from a mothball.

Getting into fistfights with a team mate on the pitch during a match - always a bonus for the CV. He's got the IQ of an over ripe melon.
