Re: Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United: Match Thread
I'm not the one who makes the assessment, so what the **** does it matter whether I've seen him play, or not ? He's a free kick specialist, which we so desperately need, so I'd put him in
I don't understand why we are so poor at free kicks this year (again). We've not had someone si...

Re: The Andy Carroll thread

Next Saturday will be interesting. Liverpool do have some good centre backs and Lucas will mop up loose ball, so it will be interesting to see how AC responds. Wouldn't it be nice for them if he could lay off for Downing to score?

Re: Bristol City v West Ham Utd (FAC4R): match thread

It was a weird ground (it will be great when finished). That plus the fact that the game was rather dull for periods meant that there were long spells when it was eerily quiet. My favourite moment was when a couple (literally) of City fans tried to break the silence by singing 'your support is f*cki...

Re: January 2015 Transfer Window - News & Rumours

Fletcher is an odd one. Is he coming over as a potential replacement for Song if he doesn't stay? Plus insurance against someone realising that Kouyate is also a quality player and might leave? Plus a tiring Nolan and a 'not so good as he should be' Noble?

Re: West Ham Utd v Hull City: match thread

I thought Tomkins was at least as good - that amazing block plus the header for our second goal and his distribution was better as well. Collins was magnifique but he also gave them their first goal.

Re: Times really are a changing! (Winston Reid)

I thought he was pretty good v Swansea, but look at the way he let Bony shoot by backing off too far for that one that hit the bar. He's a good centre back, he's not the Messiah. (and he still can't pass).

Re: West Ham United v Swansea City: Match Thread

As an aside, who was their midget with 7 on his back ? I can't remember seing a smaller player. I thought his attempted clearance for Andy's second was very poor - I know he's short but he got good contact on it and was at least a foot in front of the line but he headed it straight into the top cor...

Re: West Bromwich Abion v West Ham United: Match Thread

Personally think Collins benefits from having Song in the team. Song takes the ball off the centre backs and is the link, meaning no hoof. . Very true. And if both Song and Noble are not available for tomorrow that creates a problem that Poyet would have pretty much solved. Does Nolan become our DM...

Re: West Ham United v Newcastle United: Match Thread

Kouyate back, Downing back. Other 3 are doubtful according to BFS. If so it's *got* to be Carroll and Zarate to start for me. Bring Cole on later imho if need be. Kouyate has been under par recently but I am relieved to see him back - we'll need that against the pace and power of Newcastle - and we...

Re: Winston Reid
Sam is one of the least reluctant of our managers in the last 10 years to try the academy boys. He's always got them out on loan to try and make an impression too.
Eh? Sam has played our young players endlessly (Remember the Capital One Cup?) and putting them out on loan is the per...

The Big Man, Target Man is a difficult to role to play these days. Conor Wickham has struggled and so has Balotelli. Let's see how Andy adapts.

Re: Stoke City v West Ham United: Match Thread

The trouble is, Sakho was playing as a right winger for the large chunks for the game when we didn't have the ball. Carlton cannot replace this, and I'm not certain Valencia has the tactical nous to do it either (the tracking back, holding position etc that Sakho did so well on Saturday). And we're...

Re: West Ham United v Manchester City: Match Thread

I'd offer to apologise if my posts were seen as condescending but I'm optimistic that Dyer's Leg has misread my intentions when I came on here. Before the match, I said I'd be back for a post-mortem and I've stuck to my word. I certainly don't recall coming on here giving it some after we've won ei...

Re: The Andy Carroll thread

I also can't wait to see what a healthy Carroll can do for us. I'm sure he can not only play with his old buddy Nolan but would thrive from playing alongside guys like Sakho, Valencia or Zarate. It's true, he will receive the attention of two markers on a regular basis which would create space for ...

I guess that must be a selective choice of excerpts but they have some funny ideas? Tomkins and Sakho 'beasts'?
Valencia and Sakho 'big, physical'?

You can see what Sam saw in him. Endless good crosses from open play and dead balls onto heads in the penalty area. AC is going to love this.

Re: Allardyce: Stick or twist

If someone like Mackay or Poyet replaces Allardyce, we may as well all give up. Both have been tactically outwitted frequently by Sam and neither have proved anything in the top league and their signings have been poor. We may as well go the whole hog and get Glenn Roeder back. We are going to go d...
