I was saying that about Nolan - I thought he looked slimmer than I've ever seen him - perhaps it's just the effect of the new kit!

Re: West Ham Utd V Cardiff City: match thread

Cardiff were very poor but that was a very solid performance. I thought Diame was MotM, but also good contributions all round and two excellent goals. Downing looked real class. I thought Maiga followed instructions very well and gave us some pace that we usually lack - he was even winning a lot in ...

So those are the four players they think they'll be unable to offload over the summer?

Re: West Ham v That small club in Berkshire match thread.

when you look at our team on paper, it really is remarkable that a win will put us in 10th. Can think of many teams prior to us that finished 10th or lower with far stronger teams. Either great credit to us, the Premier League standard is worsening.. or both? Bear in mind that there is only three p...

Re: Summer Transfer thread - 2013/2014

Now is the time to invest in quality , and if we blow most of our kitty on Andy Carroll , then great , he is only 24 , then next year we can add another piece of quality to the jigsaw , and the same the following year , it's the only way of challenging for any honours as well as retaining Premiersh...

Re: Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread

Huge gap between us and Everton. We have learnt to compete and to play a match, but we're still bottom half of the table standard. Partly attitude, partly organisation, but mainly quality of every player. Right through their team they are technically about 20% better than our lot. It's going to take...

Re: Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread

You can't really judge things on a game like this, but there is something wrong with our approach away. I think Sam has to be more positive - though he's tried it today in the second half without any response from the players.

Re: Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread

I know it's end of season, but this squad will need some young fresh blood prepared to run around manically. We look very static and slow. And not for the first time this season.

Re: Everton v West Ham United: Match Thread

Classic Sam away tactics. Hope to keep it to 0-1 at half time then load on the subs in the last 15 minutes in the (vain) hope we can nick something because the other team has fallen asleep with boredom.

agreed. I was watching him closely and everytime he was by-passed in midfield when they attacked and rarely put together a pass when we moved forward. He's really struggling at the moment to have any involvement at all.

Re: West Ham United v Manchester United: Match Thread

I used to quite like Man U. In my youth they were a buccaneering team who lost quite a bit and even went down. But they had spirit. Now I've had enough. I really enjoyed last night, it was a great game and we could have won or we could have lost. But Taggart's soul-less attempt to distract attention...

Re: West Ham United v Manchester United: Match Thread

I thought it was interesting how often Man U hit a l'ong ball'. They kept trying to play in RVP over the top and later on, Hernandez. They do it much better than us with curving runs and accurate passes but it's still long passing. Didn't actually work for a change and both their goals (and our seco...
