Re: Brighton & Hove Albion v West Ham Utd: match thread

Their lot will be massively up for this. If they lose they could be in the bottom three. Hughton must have this down as very possible three points. Moyes will go looking for a draw. I reckon 1-1.

Re: January transfer window

If you look at the Hugill deal in isolation (and depending on the price) it doesn't look bad. We clearly lack the option of a strong striker who can hold up, win headers, but also shoot and finish. He's not prolific according to the stats but so what? Scoring in the Premiership is much harder anyway...

Re: January transfer window

After last night's valuable point they might decide we can stay up with the current squad. Perhaps one more on loan but I suspect they will feel that Moyes can scrape through with player returning etc.

Re: Javier Hernandez Signs

he did well tonight. Won a lot more possession than Carroll ever does from some appalling service. Linked up well with Mario. Won a penalty and nearly put that header away. Under the circumstances of very little support he seemed willing. OK he's not strong enough to bully defenders but he kept them...

Re: Pablo Zabaleta: two-year contract signed

Zab was inspirational. A true leader. And he took out one of theirs as well. In a game like that you need to be brave and he was outstanding. Of course, he's slow on the turn and will never be able to press energetically but he stopped us sitting too deep.

Re: West Ham Utd v Crystal Palace: match thread

Anyone fuming about that result tonight is completely out of touch. Considering what a threadbare team that was with nothing on the bench that was a good performance. They were organised, worked really hard and kept trying to press when they could. Palace had a proper game plan and options. Mario lo...

Re: Arthur Masuaku

The extra ban for spitting is because you can't spit by accident. There's always the question with leg breaking tackles about whether it was intentional, or even a foul. Spitting has no excuse, ever. That said, the whole "he should never play for us again" seems extreme. He should be fined as much ...

Re: West Ham Utd v Crystal Palace: match thread

Looking at Newcastle today reminds me that although our club is in a short-term and long-term mess, you wouldn't be any happier if you were a Geordie, or a Swansea or Southampton fan. Win against Palace and there's a chance we can limp away from trouble - even a draw keeps our heads above water. Los...

Re: Wigan Athletic v West Ham Utd: FA Cup 4th rnd match thread

Just checked the odds expecting a typical West Ham banana skin and WIGAN ARE FAVOURITES!!! We are underdogs, against Wigan. Another new low. I quite like that idea. A team of kids and squad players might actually put in a shift. As long as we are organised and work hard we should still have enough ...

Re: January transfer window

If Shelvey was as good as he thinks he is then I’d sign him in an instant. Reality is he wastes possession and is a send off waiting to happen. I’d steer clear. He's clearly a marmite player. It all depends on price and whether he can get his act together (most middling players get worse with us......

Re: West Ham Utd v AFC Bournemouth: match thread

Funny old game. No-one played badly but everyone was a bit off the pace after that blistering first 15. Bournemouth passed themselves back into the game which is something we don't seem able to do. A draw keeps things stable but they were there for the taking if we had a bit more quality in midfield...

Re: West Ham Utd v AFC Bournemouth: match thread

If they have any sense they will try to close down Arnie, kick Manu and block off Arthur. Not sure they play like that, though they did handle Arsenal's 'threat' very well. I'm hoping others such as Creswell and Obiang step up a gear for this one or else it could be very tight.

Re: West Ham Utd v Shrewsbury Town: match thread

Really unfair to judge the youngsters on one crappy game. The whole point is to give them a feel for a competitive match, to get to know the other players in a match situation and to gain confidence. Yes, Oxford looked ordinary, Cullen is pretty lightweight, ditto Martinez and Burke is not James Col...

Re: January transfer window

Four winnable games coming up. Yes, we need some reinforcements in midfield but no need for panic buys or silly loans. GIve some of the younger players more game time and get players in that we might actually want next year. Happy to unload anyone who is not happy even if that means saying goodbye t...

Re: Huddersfield Town v West Ham Utd: match thread

Huddersfield were poor but we were much better all round. Arnie made all the difference. That goal from the kick off was all about him beating the defender with f*** and a cracking finish. Real class. And I think we all accept now that Noble is essential.

Re: Huddersfield Town v West Ham Utd: match thread

If the Terriers have got any sense they will come at us all guns blazing early on and press hard denying possession etc. We will drop deep and hope that Adrian keeps them out. We will start lumping it towards Carroll (or Hernandez) who will get increasingly isolated. If we can weather that and if No...

Re: Javier Hernandez Signs

Sadly, I agree. We are wasting his time and he's wasting space in our squad. If he can be moved on it would free up wages for someone who can offer what we need for this season and beyond. Even at Man U he was a super-sub and we just can't afford that luxury. Today was a good example of the appallin...
