Re: Save Our Shirt Campaign (Possibly WHUFC related)

Are alcohol companies still allowed to be shirt sponsors?

Re: 2019-20 Fixtures - Man City (H)

Brighton away in August

Newcastle away on the long April bank holiday

Bournemouth away in September when it should still be decent(ish) weather

Re: What % of your life does West Ham consume?

I didn't realise how much it had decreased until I started thinking about it for this thread. It's probably at about 5% at the moment, will probably pick up to about 20% when the season starts. I try to keep getting back into it more, but then the stadium or something about the club knocks it back d...

Re: Relocations?

Only just dawned on me that people might be moving, fingers crossed the seats near me are going to now be occupied with actual Hammers, rather than a revolving door of people who have no interest in what's happening on the pitch.

Re: Hopes and expectations for next season

Beat Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool, Sheffield United.
If we get knocked out either cup, we go out swinging.
At least one player scores 15 goals.
Brighton, Bournemouth, Norwich and Newcastle away games to be in the summer/spring months.
Positive goal difference.

Not too much to ask for surely :D

Apparently its a photoshop of a Partick Thistle fan who was attacked awhile back.

Re: Was that you in 2006?

I still watch the match, from time to time, because I think we were just so good. It's one I'll show the kids when they really start to get it, so they can understand everything football is about. You're a better man than me, haven't been able to watch it since. Even when they show the Gerrard goal...

One of the most enjoyable days in my life, which quickly turned into one of the worst. Strange feelings when looking back. It could've been us this year  .

Re: Anti-Semite chant.

The rest of it is debatable, and for me part of a wider discussion on freedom of speech, which of course is not the done thing in the age of social media. Never sits right with me when people say that it's in the interest of freedom of speech. You're free to say what you want, that doesn't mean you...

But isn't whether the song is antisemtic at the core of what is allowed?

Using one Tottenham supporter, who may or may not be Jewish, is not a definitive yes or no on whether a song is antisemitic.

Re: Anti-Semite chant.

But the figures would suggest these are being amplified as concerns by our media in comparison to the major issues which affect the majority of the audience which are largely ignored. Some people will always be morons but helping might actually lead to more sympathy and understanding in other areas...

Re: Anti-Semite chant.

When I go to away games the vast majority of fans acting the goat, singing the abusive songs and throwing beer about over everyone are are younger than 30 . That is a lot younger than me so I will refer to them as the younger generation. There was also definitely more humour back in the 80's and 90...

Re: Anti-Semite chant.

The younger generation do not understand football banter. That is why fewer songs contain any humour these days and more and more are just outright abuse. Add that to the new generation of snowflake supporters who are being attracted to the game and replacing old skool supporters, the ones who sit ...

Re: Anti-Semite chant.

Re the Brighton songs, I'll hold my hands up and say that when I was younger I saw them as harmless "banter", even though I had gay friends and friends from Brighton I never saw it as a massive issue, I never really sang any of the songs but I'd make the occasional joke. Then when I was at Brighton ...

The problem with people saying "how's this any different to lads having a laugh in a private group?" is the fact that you're pretty much admitting you're in a group with a bunch of people who find this kind of thing funny.

A lot of us aren't.

Re: Bored Of It All Now

It's not just West Ham, it's football in general. Normally I'd have recorded MoTD if I was out on a Saturday and would watch it when I get in/sunday morning. I'd be well up for watching 2 good games on a Sunday up the pub if they were on. This weekend, haven't watched any of the football and was out...
