Re: West Ham Utd v Newcastle Utd: match thread

totally agree crouch end hammer. Leicester been quite good lately but totally blew it against palace. It's football it happens. Our beloved owners were keen to get benitez (may still be) as manager. perhaps this is why. We were never going to suddenly become world beaters and Newcastle really weren'...

Re: West Ham Utd v Newcastle Utd: match thread

I don't think 'throwing' the arsenal cup game had anything to do with our loss yesterday. Without Lanzini and noble we had no one to move the ball forward. In hindsight we would probably been better to put rice in midfield. However the team was exactly the same as the one I picked in my head, so I'v...

Re: January transfer window

The problem with modern football is that for mid-ranking clubs (hopefully us) we're seen by ambitious players as a stepping stone to the 'big' clubs. Southampton are the prime example. They put together a decent team and all their best players get picked off. Not sure that many players ever had any ...

Re: Gold and Sullivan ???

we definitely specialise in buying overrated has-beens but that's the fate of struggling clubs (which we are) Spurs have managed to keep most of their best players on lowish contracts because they've been challenging for the top places. See how big the queue is at the managers door if their present ...

Re: Arsenal v West Ham Utd: match thread

wrong game at the wrong time. Quarter final moved back right into the middle of the xmas schedule. Neither team really wanted this match now, for different reasons. Be good if we can give the FA cup a bit of a go providing we have stabilised in the league. Shows how thin the squad is though

Re: Stoke City v West Ham Utd: match thread

Best thing about this game for me was that we kept attacking and didn't try and hang on to the 1-0 (BFS style). Love that stoke didn't get a shot on target. The other good statistic is that stoke had something like 7 or 8 shots blocked, which just shows how we're suddenly putting bodies on the line....

Re: January transfer window

I would like to see us rescue Renato Sanches from his Swansea nightmare. I know he has failed to nail down a regular starting position for them, but the guy needs games to get himself going, plus he will be better playing with better players and he was offered to us last summer, but Bilic didn't wa...

Re: January transfer window

Most of the players people have the hots for, Wilshere, Wallcot, jonjo Shelvey etc. all seem to be exactly what we don't need. Players with poor injury history, erratic form and high wages. While not suggesting we sign a crop of unknown 18 year olds from Albania, I think we need to be a little bit m...

Re: Stoke City v West Ham Utd: match thread

Has the feel of a game where the ref could play a big part. It's not really a must win game, if we lost this and won the next three it would be a great set of results. However it would be nice to manage 3 games unbeaten in a row and would be even better to get our first away win of the season, but I...

Re: Stoke City v West Ham Utd: match thread

Due to our recent surprise points this is no longer a must-win game, but if we want to get away from the relegation dogfight sooner rather than later, a win is what's needed. It's a totally different challenge to the last 3 games. I wouldn't be surprised to see crouch start, Collins would be needed ...

Re: West Ham -United -v- Chelsea Match Thread

I hate losing to this lot more than anyone. They are the ones that started the slide that has become modern football, they are a nothing club with no history, no class and no dignity. They champion racists and cheats as heros. They are everything that is wrong with football. From Abramovich at the ...

Re: January transfer window

When you see a mention for Jack Colback you know you are in trouble. Should be a few World Cup hopefuls like Giroud floating about. Not saying we will be first in queue, but should be some options to explore. Lucas Torreira at Sampdoria. I really think he will be at a top club in a few years. Only ...

Re: January transfer window

Is it just me who thinks Moyes could get the best out of Snodgrass? Maybe it's the Jock connection, not sure, but can just see him working harder and maybe he'd play him in his best position. Wilshere would be a quality signing, showing signs of getting back to his best, exactly what we need in CM ...

Re: Man City v West Ham United - Match Thread

Why are we so impressed with mediocrity? I'm all for positivity but this bordering on delusion that all is going to be OK. Yesterday we took an unlikely lead and Parker the bus all game. Understandable given the opposition and our injury problems but we still lost. We still came away with nothing a...

Re: January transfer window

Midfield is the problem area. That's why experienced defenders are struggling because they're left exposed by the midfield giving the ball away and not picking up runners. Two years ago noble could run for 90 mins and he had payet to pass to. Now noble can run for 9 mins (mostly sideways) and can pa...

Re: Man City v West Ham United - Match Thread

Refreshing to see organisation in the team today. Although we played a nine man defence we still managed to create some decent chances. Usually if we play defensively we just the hoof the ball and pose no threat. Obviously the next two games are difficult, but more of the same commitment could get s...

Re: Man City v West Ham United - Match Thread

How we can win: City keeper gets sent off in 1st minute for punching the referee, Kompany booked for arguing the decision. After 10 attacks in five minutes by city Adrian punts the ball upfield where Antonio gives chase. As he tries to round Kompany he slips and the referee adjudges it to be a delib...

Re: Newcastle Utd v West Ham Utd : match thread

I've only seen the highlights on MOTD so I can't really say how bad we really were but---- Bilic said in his column in the Standard the other week that 3 at the back was only plan B. Why? All our best performances last season were played this way. I've been a staunch supporter of Slav but this seaso...

Re: West Ham United v Crystal Palace: Match Thread

we seem to be suffering from an undeserved superiority complex lately. Anyone we play in the lower half of the league we play like a training game. The palace performance was very similar to the west brom one, the main difference being that west brom are a better team than palace. Alladyce complains...
