Re: ⚽ Newport County v West Ham United: FL Cup Match Thread

I have no doubt we would have conceded last night if Ogbonna had played. Balbuena made so many aerial clearances whilst Diop had a tough battle but ultimately came out on top. Roberto had a good game as did Sanchez. Hugely concerning that Cresswell was being skinned by league two defenders. Anderso...

Re: ⚽ Brighton and Hove Albion vs West Ham United: Match Thread

Antonio has no technique but he has pace, power and is good in the air. Snodgrass offers nothing. Nothing ? Righto... for starters he can deliver an excellent cross/corner and has a decent touch. His work rate is good too. Antonio has no football brain and as you mention, no technique, but yes he d...

Re: ⚽ Brighton and Hove Albion vs West Ham United: Match Thread

My problem with Snodgrass is simpler than that. He's a trier but not a very good footballer. In yesteryear he'd start every game but now we have genuine quality so he shouldn't be near the starting line up. Same can be said of others, e.g. Antonio. Both however are reasonable options from the bench...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Manchester City: Massacre Thread (10/8)

There's also another interesting element to the Cresswell debate, when many consider him to be such dogshit, yet Pellegrini continually selects him as the Team Captain in Nobles absence, let alone starting him. He's not doing that out of the kindness of his heart, but for good reason because he tru...

Re: VAR

I've flip-flopped on the issue. Positive for it when looking back to the last Boleyn season for example (as it feels like it would have made a good season great with the number of calls that went against us), and negative against it when seeing it employed in other games. Just too picky . But it's ...

Re: Is there space at The London stadium for a museum?

Sadly, the people who run our club don't give a **** about our hisory or heritage unless there's a quid in it for them. We had a museum at Upton Park and they sold off lots of our memorablia in the move. They sold things that didn't technically belong to them either. History began when we moved to ...

Re: VAR

Watched the game on Saturday on TV and when a VAR based decision was pending, you had the freeze frame image of an offside or not decision as part of the coverage but in the stadium you did not. For the penalty you have the replays as part of that VAR process but again those in the stadium are left...

Interesting story, coming at an interesting time. David Sullivan has apparently been shopping in Italy - and it wasn't for a new pair of shoes. https://www.kumb.com/story.php?id=133773 From that article: "The news arrives at an interesting time with stories circulating rather closer to home regardi...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Manchester City: Massacre Thread (10/8)

I thought Wilshere was excellent in there for 45 minutes. And I think we looked at our worse after he went off when we put in a more physical and disruptive player in there (Snodgrass). All four defenders played pretty poorly. I also think we tired and couldn’t find any extra because of how they we...

Re: Albian Ajeti...Welcome to The Hammers.

Never heard of the guy (like most of our signings this window) but he looks to be a very good prospect. His track record in the Swiss league looks good and from a few clips on YouTube he looks a pretty decent finisher. Excellent, and needed, back up to Haller and for now a good option from the bench...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Manchester City: Match Thread (10/8)

You can improve defensively without changing the defenders. Wilshere, Fornals and Lanzini improve ball retention, the ball will stick to Haller who will give their defenders something to think about. Plus Fredericks' pace will help st the back. No doubt we'll lose but to say we haven't improved bec...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Manchester City: Match Thread (10/8)

City have improved and we have improved. Difficulty is, City start from a much, much higher level than we are at. However, a game like this can’t be let define our start to the season. Put up a good performance, and perhaps nick something when the season is still cold. However, City will be strong ...

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend

Noble has earned respect through 15 years of playing in our first team, including relegations, including playing through pain, and some of you could do with calming down on the pure vitriol you have for the man, which goes beyond simple criticism of his game. . Who'd have thought when this g...

Re: Ben Johnson

I’m interested to know how well people think he will do this season. All I’ve seen are highlights really. We desperately need a better LB but could he fill the gap? Could he have a Dec style break through season? Assuming he is not sent out on loan, I reckon he will get game time in the cups and he...

Re: Hertha Berlin vs West Ham Utd: match thread (31/7)

I know many people won’t agree with me, but I would drop Anderson and have Fornals on the left, Lanzini in the middle and Antonio on the right. So far in the preseason games Anderson hasn’t warranted a starting place. He doesn’t track back, gives the ball away far to easily, gets shrugged off the b...

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread

I don't actually agree with this. Ogbonna is a very capable Centre-back and Reid is probably the best 4th choice centre-back we've ever had. Not to mention the fact that we have Rice and Zabaleta who can do it at a push. The issue for me is that the back four just don't get enough support from the ...

Re: Welcome, Sebastien Haller

I'm getting really, really excited to see this guy link up with the talent around him. Thought he, Fornals, Anderson, and Lanzini all linked up really well against Fulham. (Sorry, I'm double posting because I want this bumped above the bloody Andy Carroll thread) Agree, and for such a big guy he is...
