Re: West Ham for sale *Now Officially Taken Over*

80% of CB is owned by Straumur who ,in turn, owe the newly formed Islandbanki (Icelandic government owned) £230m which has been secured by a claim on certain assets in Straumur's control.Straumur also owe £150m to bond holders.Straumur have a varied bunch of assets ( mostly bankrupt businesses that ...

Re: West Ham for sale *Now Officially Taken Over*

The trouble is Straumur may not have the time to realise an increase in value as they go into bankruptcy or have their creditors try to force a sale in the interim.

Re: West Ham for sale *Now Officially Taken Over*

ashbanki, I'm not sure if you're an accountant? When Brown sold up we had a mortgage on the stadium of £23m or so. Does that count as debt because surely it would be offset by the increased value of the asset of the rebuilt stadium? There is no standard valuation for football clubs. If someone buys ...

Re: West Ham for sale *Now Officially Taken Over*

I think that the value of the club when BG took over is pretty much what it is now - £80m +£23m debt = approx £100m. The thing is that the Icelandics are hoping to be much better off waiting until the club has substancially reduced the debt (rumoured to have been close to £50m a year ago) With a £50...

Re: Dean Ashton

Maybe "firesale" is the wrong word. What would you call it when a club HAS to sell players in order to service loan repayments?

Re: Dean Ashton

I think, that when SD said we will have a transfer budget to spend this time next year, he actually means that this and the January transfer window will require us to sell to service loan repayments. So the actual self sufficiency requires another year of firesales to aspire to.

Re: Dean Ashton

mickfbrown ~ As an accountant could you tell me why a CEO promises that accounts would be published by the third week of June , to enable Europa Cup elligibility, and when it is not an issue delays them another two months? Considering that the club have sorted out the Sheff Utd compo and terms and m...

Re: sunday's gossip includes west ham

So it will be a barometer of the feelings of the creditors. Do you think the recent selling off of Pompey for around 15 mill plus debts and the problems that Newcastle ( I know not premier anymore) will play on their minds? Exactly. There are a lot of Premiership clubs for sale and there are a handf...

Re: sunday's gossip includes west ham

Ash, I had no idea about the creditor meeting this week. Is it a regular thing and is there any indication re the confidence that the creditors have in the club as a way of clawing back their money? This is the first general creditors meeting whereby all claims against Straumur have to have been lo...

Re: sunday's gossip includes west ham

I ,also, think this is a good article for the simple fact that creditors of Hansa (who have become part of CB Holdings) and creditors of Straumur (who will be meeting this Thursday 6th) will have the seeds of doubt set in their minds that the value of the club could be seriously undermined by a seas...

Re: West Ham for sale *Now Officially Taken Over*

REYKJAVIK (AFP) – Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson, the former owner and chairman of English Premier League side West Ham United, has been declared bankrupt, an Icelandic court ruled on Friday. Judges in Reykjavik agreed with Gudmundsson's argument that he had no reasonable expectation of any future income an...

Re: Dean Ashton

And, during this period we have had Stoke management maintaining that they are after Ashton and have spoken to the player. The fact of the matter is that Duxbury is a bare faced liar and the big question is whether it's for the club's benefit or his own. We have buyers interested, but will not move un...

Re: Dean Ashton

Billbanksy~ This "skintness" didn't come overnight did it? Indeed Duxbury has been aware of the situation since Eggy was sacked and he was handed the job - No money to spend and hefty loan repayments to make. With that in mind why do you think he and Nani decided to not only keep, but incre...

Re: Eidur Gudjohnsen

Trouble is that these so-called "freebies" want closer to £100k than £50k and, with respect, Toni looks wellfucked from what I have seen of him in the last twelve months - he has no pace and seems to be blowing through his anus after fifteen minutes, mind you he is 32 and has been a great ...

Re: Eidur Gudjohnsen

Unfortunately Duxbury and co don't seem to realise that "freebies" cost what you save paying a fee in wages - that is why players run their contracts down so they can covet a large salary."Loans" are either youngsters whose clubs want to send them out for experience or players on...

It was posted last summer by JoP ,if I remember rightly.Mind you it could just as easily have been some "management spin" put out there to discredit said manager.

Re: Ashton top of Stoke's shopping list

Carnage ~ Ashton did not want to leave last summer, but Curbishley wanted rid.Duxbury ,in his wisdom , decided to not only keep him but to offer him an improved contract!!This undermining of a manager you want to make resign rather than to have to pay them off is actually proving to be more expensiv...
