Re: January transfer window

What made Bowie great was the desire to move onto new pastures once he’d mastered one and that’s the sort of restless inventiveness we’re witnessing here. Yes indeed, Bowie was a master at reinventing himself. Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Halloween Jack. Don't think I've ever seen him nutmeg a def...

Looks like I've missed out again.
No wins in 3 years. Not sure why I bother.

Re: ✍ Kalvin Phillips

I fully expect Phillips to hit the ground running here and I feel a stronger second half of the season on its way. I also expect him to be signed on a permanent deal in the summer, as part of Paqueta going in the opposite direction. It would not surprise me if there’s already a “gentleman’s agreeme...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

Watched a 40 min video with Alan Devonshire recently. Well, not with him..but about him.. :starst: He said the best teams he played in were direct...John Lyall played direct football. Every thought was to get the ball forward and never go backwards. He actually despaired of the style nowadays...esp...

It was only a matter of time before the Xabo Alonso to Liverpool rumours became Xabi Alonso and Tim Steidten rumours.

Re: January transfer window

Ideally, half way through the season, you'd want someone that would need little to no adjustment to the league, and with Phillips you get someone who (in theory) should be motivated to play and play well if he wants to make Southgate's squad (arguably he will anyway if he stays at City, but you get...

So glad we're doing things differently now, identifying players before the window opens, doing our business early and not waiting until last minute panic. It really stops all the annoying and unnecessary transfer speculation. :chin:

Re: Top Strikers in Europe this season: Who should we buy?

Although he is a left-winger rather than a striker Steven Bergwijn record at Ajax is not too bad this season: 7 goals and 2 assists. (160 minutes per goal). Since arriving at Ajax in July 2022 he has scored 19 goals in 45 games. Definitely an upgrade on Said Benrahma. Don't know if Bergwijn is the ...

Re: Jesse Lingard

We're in a short-term crisis with injuries and a key player at AFCON, so the answer is to sign a player who has played 86 mins of football in the whole of 2023 and not played a single minute since March 2023? Not only that, but he's not been properly training since last summer! He'd be blowing out o...

Re: January transfer window

Assuming he hasn't signed for anyone by then, I'm convinced we'll make a move to sign Ekitike on loan 3 hours before the window closes. All parties will be keen to make it happen, but we'll run out of time. We'll repeat the same trick for the next 4 transfer windows.

Re: West Ham United v Bristol City : match thread

to allow that disgraceful challenge on Dinos as a yellow, was a joke, it was dangerous with no attempt to play of battle for the ball - should ahve been a straight red for dangerous play. The ref didn't even intend to give a yellow. The 4th official spoke to him through the earpiece and only then d...

Re: West Ham United v Bristol City : match thread

Moyes decided to sit back in our half but there was no desire to attack pass the ball to each other and counter. He's a disgrace and the most negative manager I've seen at any club in long while. Early in that 2nd half Moyes was actually screaming at the players to push forward. Our issue was a comp...

Re: Newcastle fans banned from Public transport

It is most probably down to the numbers involved but they could have run dedicated tube trains. When we played Millwall away ( think it was 2014) after many years the police set aside a number of tube trains from Stratford to London Bridge that were non stop. We were then kettled from the tube plat...

My thoughts on that Brighton team tonight...... They're the footballing equivalent of a lapdance. Very easy on the eye, full of false promises and absolutely no penetration.
