Re: I Told 'em Oldham !

Might still be the coldest though! I dunno, the Findus Stand at Blundell Park, openly facing the North Sea was a bit bracing! I seem to remember Andy Ritchie screwing us over on another occasion up there on the plastic. Wasn't he their 'Glenn Murray for' us?... Yes, I think he was. That's why I had...

Re: I Told 'em Oldham !

Take that, Neil Redfearn and your final match inury time penalty! And your plastic pitch! Speaking of plastic pitches: They have become the first ex-PL team to (as of next term) play in the non-leagues. Just goes to show you need to enjoy the good times when you can. Notts County are another example...

Re: Other Fixtures (30th April - 5th May)

Lanzini had to be the last player to get retroactively penalized for simulation and usually I watch a load of football, Europa league, CL, La Liga, Bundesliga and I cannot remember when the last time I saw a player yellow carded for simulation. ... I actually had to look up whether or not the 6 sec...

Re: Other Fixtures (30th April - 5th May)

Sick to death of defenders diving and getting free kicks as well. Also with head injuries, they should have to go off for 5-10 minutes to be properly assessed. See how many stay down then I made a post in the "Other Fixtures x-29th April" thread about the two semi-finals in the UEFA Confe...

Re: Other Fixtures (30th April - 5th May)

Forest, or possibly Boro, IIRC. Both went down but can’t remember who was more sh*t. Yep, the Tricky Trees, prompting Cloughies' retirement. They won the first televised "Premiership" match, 1-0 against Liverpool, with Teddy Sheringham scoring the first televised Premiership goal. A week ...

Re: Other Fixtures (30th April - 5th May)

Norwich could also become the first Premier league club to be relegated this weekend. Just realised that Villa could still finish above us, in sixth. They could also be relegated. This must be a first for May - a club could either qualify for Europe (by league position) or be relegated? Come on, No...

Re: The ones who got away.

Some we miss out on an it proves to be a huge error, like Kante.. Jesse Lingard: Ended up going no where, our team has seemed to miss the Lingard we had from January. Would you rather have Kante or Rice? Arguably, the latter wouldn't have got his chance if we'd signed Kante. And while I would have ...

Triv question:
Who was really the first Premier League club to be relegated?

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Eintracht Frankfurt: match thread

Thought their early goal ruined the game plan. I'm really surprised we were so sleepy at teh start tbh. We must have known they would try to score right from kick off - they did at Barcelona, and almost at Betis (starting with a high press that finally scored 14' in). SUrely we watched those games.

Re: Frankfurt fans

I had a season ticket at Western Sydney Wanderers the year they won the Asian Champions League, and the Active Fan section was quite boisterous there, with 'Capos' with loudhailers, bass drum, organised chanting, flags, flares, etc. Initially I liked it. I thought it created a really good atmosphere...

Re: Other Fixtures (23rd - 29th April)

More referee bashing from me - Jon Moss. Usually think he gets a rough ride, but if you all remember our match at OT in September when Matic deliberately kneed Coufall in the Bow locks and escaped punishment in the game, and as Moss stated he had seen the incident, it was exempt from retrospective p...

Re: Other Fixtures (23rd - 29th April)

Are we still interested in Caleta-Carr - he gifted Feyenoord's winner last night with a shockingly casual, underhit backpass just seconds into the second half. Some interesting refereeing in the two Conference games: both games the ref played on (for some time, until the ball went out of play) while...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Eintracht Frankfurt: match thread

Though the ref was very, very good. Best for a long time. To be fair to Frankfurt, they didn't give him too much to have to ref - a bit of going down easy near the end, and some shenanigans to try to ruffle us (seemingly successfully) by suggesting our poor sportsmanship when their players started d...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Eintracht Frankfurt: match thread

Why do they put a stoppage time up when there's a player already actively stopping play.
Surely common sense says wait and see how long he spends on the ground first.

Oooh, that's two screamers we've almost scored. Grrr!

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Eintracht Frankfurt: match thread

Benrahma did everything right and then that finish was dreadful. Probably indecision, shoot or use the two arriving players. Our corners and wide freekicks have been straight to the keeper all night. Does he have a reputation as being a marge mitts or something? Edit Posted as we take our first out...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Eintracht Frankfurt: match thread

And Bowen demonstrated my point about Knauf's second chance in the first half.
Bowen's pass is intercepted and he melodramatically throws his head back and stops playing
