Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

I see a figure of £13m suggested for Kehrer and under £10m for Pablo. How on earth, with the way the market has gone this season, are our players seemingly worth so little? I'd suggest they are worth far more to us and it will cost a lot more to find adequate replacements for either. Fornals is in ...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

We need to manage the "non homegrown" part of the squad well now. Currently we have Fabianski, Areola, Zouma, Coufal, Mavropanos, Ogbonna, Kehrer, Aguerd, Emerson, Fornals, Paqueta, Cornet, Alvarez, Soucek and Benrahma, which makes 15. We can only register 17. So with ongoing pursuits for ...

Or we are going to get both?
Sounds like the Kudus issues are way beyond our other signings. Seems to be falling apart from all angles.

Does anyone at all (other than Lingard and his immediate family) actually believe that he is an improvement on Fornals?

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

If he scores the same as Antonio (who is a "legend" to some), maintains, or increases, the number of assists he has delivered, improves with better players around him and brings a level of control of a football that Antonio simply doesn't possess, then it's not such a bad thing. The guy i...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

But £40m is just a 2015 £20m, and a 2008 £10m. Prices are ridiculous these days, and the question is not whether he is worth £40m, but whether he is worth the difference to us finishing 15th and finishing 9th-11th. I never saw a £20m player in him back then either. His last 2 full seasons in the PL...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

Still a no for me on Solanke, and no, it's not because he isn't an unknown European. Agnostic of nationality, its purely based on his goal scoring record (mostly scoring against lower/recently promoted teams). I'm sure we can find someone else to run around and offer no real goal threat I agree. I ...

Which would be insane. Our midfield would then be Alvarez, JWP, Soucek and Paqueta. That's it.

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

I don't think anyone of note ever claimed we were near Wahi anyway? There was an initial "made enquiries" a week or two ago, but I'm not convinced we were ever seriously in for him.

Hopefully we have other irons in the fire........

Still the French 2nd though isn't it! If we're looking at Div 2's then we should have been in for Akpom.

Wouldn't argue with that at all. The point being simply that Paqueta has probably had 10-15 proper good games in the PL and we ask for £100m now, so the market is indeed crazy.

We appear to be in a world where players like Balogun cost £50m. If that is true then Eze is well worth £70m.

In fairness we're all saying £90-100m for Paqueta and he was poor to average up until March.
