Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

Harvey Barnes may have been our Plan A. We may have been his Plan B. Most would agree he would have been a good signing. He wanted Newcastle and CL. Fair play to him. We had to wait is my guess until his intentions and Newcastle's were clear Oh for sure. There will always be instances of this when ...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

Indeed - if they have , for example, five targets in a position, it's probably quite easy to get # 5 on their list, whilst it's quickly known 1 and 2 are gone, but do you pull the trigger and sign the fifth choice because you're impatient when #3 and #4 may still be up for grabs? I just think somet...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

Completely get what you’re saying, Defiant25, and some good points. I would counter and say, we’ve spent a lot of time in the past going after players who have had no interest in signing for us (players of the calibre of Paqueta) and we’ve ending up losing out on other players who have gone elsewher...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

How many times have we heard ‘X amount of days left in the window’, ‘let’s judge at the end of the window’, etc, while Sullivan has been in charge, and how many times have we been left disappointed? I’m sure we will end up making a few good signings - there’s no way we can sell our best player, and ...

Re: ✍ Tomas Soucek

A decent squad player to have, and a great guy, but if Moyes decides to stick by him in the starting XI (which I think he may well do) then it really could be a decision he regrets.

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

I hope we don’t sign Palhinha.

Purely because the amount of times his name would be misspelled, week in week out, would be quite stressful.

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread

I still maintain that we need a pacy, powerful ball carrier to form a midfield trio with Paqueta and a defensive mid/destroyer like Palhinha. Fornals isn't that player, unfortunately. Completely agree. I like Fornals, but we’ve already got a better version of him in Paqueta in the middle. Some pace...

He can be hard work, granted. But.. this is the Moyes thread, bringing him into it is the whole idea... You are right, but we were talking about something else. Like I said, it’s relentless, and make this forum a lot less enjoyable. I’m not even anti-Moyes, but trying to look at it from different a...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

So what are all these amazing Arteta tactical innovations? Ironically, they collapsed last season after Moyes exposed their fragilities, with everyone else happily piling in . Wow, you are absolutely relentless. YOU said there were no new ideas in football, which is one of the most ridiculous thing...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

You only have to listen to Rice himself the way he gushes over Arteta, as well as allegedly holding meetings mid-season during a relegation battle to join Arsenal, couldn't wait to leave. I do believe Rice appreciates Moyes for getting him to this point, giving him the Captaincy but I do also stron...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

There are no new ideas in football. The best you get is refinements to old ideas and the the utilization and tweaking of old ideas to take advantage of weaknesses within the current in vogue tactical trends. It is a shame though that we have a hands-off manager with old ideas and low standards! No ...

Your mate sounds great. Is he a gooner by any chance? He says he supports West Ham but he doesn’t really like football, to be honest. He works for Arsenal and has spent a lot of time with Dec over the last couple of days. I didn’t necessarily take it as a dig at Moyes, but these young (new breed) m...
