Re: West Ham United vs Fulham FC - Sunday 14 April - 2pm
Darren England (the one that was on VAR for the Spurs Liverpool game earlier this season that made the mistake of disallowing the Diaz goal) is back on VAR after a 6 month absence for our game. Can't wait for tomorrow. :crylol: "Look Dazza, first game back's a freebie. Don't worry about any mi...

Re: Sociopolitical spectrum of football
I'm retired now but many years back worked and lived in Germany (nearly 4 years) and the US (2 years) and I didn't notice anything like the references to "class" that normally accompany articles about social demographgy in the UK. But your point about people of similar social standing (in...

Re: Sociopolitical spectrum of football
I would imagine that we would have used to have been considered left wing by the old definition. We were in a traditional rough working class area, we were unionized, in fact our rivalry with Millwall goes back to a time when they were scabs and we were strikers. But that old definition of left and...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread
Second goal was a killer. Probably turned the tie from 60-40 in their favour to 80-20. Maybe 90-10. Reckon it'll have to be our best-ever European performance in the second leg to get through now. As others have said, our squad depth is simply criminal. How we go into *every* window needing more pla...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
“I am euphoric at every game and every training session because I feel that I am in the right place, in the right league,” Genuinely, this sounds like a quote that someone would say 3 weeks before confirming that they are leaving the club. No one who claims to be euphoric watching every West Ham ga...

Re: Midweek Games April 9-11
You know things are bad when it’s actually refreshing to watch Champions League refereeing. You only have to watch a few games in a Euros or World Cup to realise how atrocious British referees are these days. Used to be we laughed at how soft decisions were in European football. Completely the oppo...

That's top refereeing in the Arsenal game.
Saka chucking his leg into the keeper trying to get a pen and the ref not having it at all.

Re: Everton FC: 10 Point Deduction Confirmed for PL FFP breach
Is the 2 points just an arbitrary number or is there a formula/methodology behind it? One of my friends works at at the Premier League and he managed to send me a behind-the-scenes pic of the very scientific prcoess that goes into calculating the exact number of points to be deducted for each punis...

Re: Bayer Leverkusen v West Ham Utd Europa QF 1st leg match thread
Just to counter the very fair words of caution on how good Leverkeusen are, I watched some of both their games against Qarabag in the last round and they were absolutely awful in both of them!
A few players rested from starting line-ups, but should definitely have been knocked out at the time.

Re: Where will we finish?
It will be a very tough ask to finish 6th. Skybet has us at 28/1 to finish 6th, the same as Brighton, with Chelsea and Newcastle at much shorter odds and Man U almost at evens. If we want 6th I expect we’d have to beat Fulham, Palace, Luton and Chelsea too. Honestly think there's more chance of us ...
