Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread
No. I'm saying has 8 PL goals last year which is kind of fine, but not worth the sort of money being quoted. He seems like a decent championship player but not much more. Maybe im missing something... I'd be very curious what the analytics models think of him. Statistically had a very good season i...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread
What I don't get is we've taken out a loan and also Kretinsky put in money also a loan if I'm not wrong And we've paid off part of the loan from the Rice sale No wonder they were holding out. This clubs run poorly Imo, how is it Brighton , Brentford can run there clubs smoothly and not seem to have...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread
Football Insider are reporting that we've repaid a £55m loan early out of the Rice money. https://www.footballinsider247.com/revealed-55m-west-ham-loan-update-as-paperwork-filed/ Pretty big leap on their part to say it is out of the Rice money, no indication of that, just that we paid it off... no ...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread
I'd go for Amrabat over Lingard or Mctom and would give us Paqueta/Fornals************JWP/Soucek ***********Alvarez/Amrabat********** 2 in each position which is perfect if we plan to play 3 in midfield all season The problem with that is... why would Amrabat sign to be a backup? If he starts which...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread
Be careful, the goals and assists were all made in a handful of games at the end of the season. He's still very young, but this looks to me more of a purple patch than his real level. I can't see him as a consistent player. One great game for 10 atrocious ones. But who knows? Maybe a great coach ca...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread
In the Santi tweet, he says ◉ WH are in talks with Montpellier for Elye Wahi. The MHSC striker is attracted by WH's project. Woah, woah. What is this West Ham project he speaks of? How comes he gets the inside info and us fans don't. The project where he gets to play a lot for one season then leave...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread
His stats in the french league hardly set the world of fire either. 6 goals and 2 Assists last season. In less than 1300 minutes. Top 20 in the league in npG+A per 90... so he was producing a lot of end product when he was on the pitch, but the real reason Pep and others want him is this: https://i...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread
The Brighton buy low, sell high method, imo I don't think it is sustainable, Leicester have done this and look where they ended up. Good luck to Brighton, I am glad to see them in Europe rather than some of the usual suspect. In fairness to Leicester, it was working just fine until their owner died...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread
He may have sources, but I don't think they are good ones. He was one of the earliest with the Paqueta to Man City rumors, but he also said they bid 80m, we rejected it, they returned with 95M, etc. I think he gets rumors them makes up a bunch of stuff around it.

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread
Think it's more likely that Bowen will be playing as a CF. Plus Cornet has played there before. Scored a few goals as a striker against Man City in the Champions League Definitely possible. I'd say I think if you're playing Bowen (or Cornet) up top it should be in a 2 both have played almost all th...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread
Because, after all, who the fark needs goals in this day and age? :chin: Strikers are only a small part of scoring goals. You can score more goals with a strong midfield and no real striker than with a striker and nobody to get him the ball. see our long collection of very good strikers who got here...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread
If we sign those 3 and add a striker without losing Paqueta then I'd say that was a great window At this current moment, if we got the players i mentioned, that would be it. No striker. Presumably if Paqueta isn't leaving Kudus is the striker, he played there quite a bit last year. Would make some ...

What is a lack of interest? We've been linked to him by multiple media outlets, that would indicate at least a good amount of interest.steveyrockstar wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 9:16 pm Disturbed and disappointed by our seeming lack of interest in Brennan Johnson.

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread
I don't love an 80m deal for Paqueta if it doesn't at least include one of the youngsters they have coming here. However... I also think the assumption that City (or anyone else) is just going to activate the release next year is silly. If we keep Paqueta, he'll likely be unhappy, and in the summer ...

Re: Lukasz Fabianski signs
There's no but. Nobody on here knows what happened. Maybe he had a shocker in training I mean... that would not be well handled at all in that case, dropping your keeper for the season because he had a poor practice session without any previous discussion of his role this season would be poor form ...

Re: Summer 2023/24 Transfer Thread
Yep The funny thing is, whilst we’re only 3 or 4 injuries away from relegation, we’re also only 3 or 4 signings away from top 10. The spine looks very weak though doesn’t it. Especially when you take Paqueta and Antonio out. One thing that stands out to me... who in that 11 is above average as a pa...

Re: Lukasz Fabianski signs
very surprised and disappointed in fab Areola imo should have been number one last season. Yet fab kept his place. Even when he made a few errors. Even when he got an injury and areola did nothing wrong to warrant dropping fab was brought straight back. Even when we had secured safety and areola co...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
If we moved on from Moyes I'd like to see us make a run at Gallardo. He allegedly would like to come to the PL, and has been working on improving his English as part of preparing. He's a tactically flexible manager, he's more aggressive than Moyes, but he's not a total flair manager. One thing that ...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!
The life of a manager to make the best of what they have; however it's always felt to me that DM has disproportionately missed out on his first choices to clubs we would generally consider our direct competitors, not always the calibre of the clubs you list above. Unfortunately, we're never going t...
