Re: The January 2012 transfer window

Luck? How can luck be the case for OVER half a season, it's more to do with excellent defending and nicking a 1-0. You defend well and take a small % of chances you will win hence why we are sitting pretty at the top of the league. That is just the way luck works. I recall thinking we had a run of ...

Re: West Ham v Nottingham Forest match thread

If you think you had a bad day ! Just got in 14 hours after leaving , drove 412 miles, no booze, card would not work in West Lower, jobs worth sent me to ticket office, queue from hell, managed to get a ticket replacement, made it just in time for kick off even managed to bump into (literally) Romf...

Re: West Ham v Nottingham Forest match thread

Not for the first time, but I was really susprised by Sam's lack of impact today. First half,. we were under the cosh. The beeb's match report has it right when it says they should have been a couple of goals up before the first pen - with better finishing... I was screaming at our team, Sam was alm...

Re: The January 2012 transfer window

For the fourth time today, whenever Baldock has been fit, we play two strikers at home. We might play two strikers, we do not play them as two strikers. Playing your best finisher as a left midfielder??? Bar two very very good saves from Green and one fortuitous linesman decision today would have b...

Re: The January 2012 transfer window

I wonder if we have any scouts watching the african cup of nations? anyway i think we should be looking at the south american leagues for a young decent striker/winger, bring some speed and flair to the team and fans always love an exciting south american  Like it, we have done argie (tevez) ...

Re: West Ham v Nottingham Forest match thread

Has our goal difference improved? Depends on your perspective. Went up by one. But any team that gets 3 points improves its goal difference by AT LEAST one point. So relative to other teams that won, we will have at best held our own - and anyone winning by more than a single goal will have improve...

Re: The January 2012 transfer window

Sorry yes it's shots oppose to chances from BBC If balls fizzing across the box and corners not included then the numbers would probably be higher I think we disagree on this. I think our no 1 problem is a failure to create chances in the first place, and the biggest aspect of that is the lack of a...

Re: The January 2012 transfer window

The argument there is Newcastle are safe in the prem and don't need Tomkins so why risk that extra million. We NEED to go up this year, we can't finish our chances; nearly 20 a game with one goal for that 20. My point is all our bids seem to be just under what WILL be accepted... So essentially we ...

Re: The January 2012 transfer window

Our bids always seem to be just a little under what would be accepted... Interesting tactic, would 1 extra million for the right player really make a difference? How much are Fulham paying AJ then? Didint think they paid that high wages, would prefer sordell or Rhodes but 1.5m seems cheap for AJ al...

Re: The January 2012 transfer window

Think 55% is the generally recommneded proportion of turnover for player wagebill. That we are at 70%+ is a problem, not something we can worsen. Last time we were in the prem and finishing 10th, we had a wagebill we couldnt really afford - with players like Upson and Parker earning money we couldnt...

Re: The January 2012 transfer window

Stubbsy - somebody is going to buy him .Why not us ? We are not a small club . I haven't mentioned the CL, but can I suggest you have a look and see how much Stoke have spent in the last year , just to get to mid table . We are a side that if in the prem leageue would be around average sized, but w...

Re: The January 2012 transfer window

Nolan ? No , a couple of years too old for what I'm getting at .I'd also expect to see by year three perhaps one of the players sign in year one depart - a constant cycle . Our turnover last year - finishing bottom - was £80m .A 10th place finish would generate a minimum of an additional £10m in in...

Re: The January 2012 transfer window

I think we need at least one WOW signing in this window, to lift the mood within the team , the club and especially us fans. Competition for places is always a good thing, and as far as wingers and strikers are concerned we could definitely use an upgrade to what we have. I for one would be very di...

Re: tuesday's news 17th jan includes west ham

I'd have Defoe over Darren Bent and Bent regularly goes for 18m or so doesn't he ?? Defoe's 29 now ( Bent 27 ), could get a team 100 goals i'd say if he was to stay there for the rest of his career, in all comps.. Could of course get injured though, same as everyone else. Really? bent has scores mo...

Re: The January 2012 transfer window

First time I've seen fulham linked to him to be honest.. Anyway, we're gonna end up with Andy Johnson who will be injured for most of the games, and jimmy kebe, who ain't good enough. But what do we expect? Then you've not been paying attention. There have been repeated comments on this thread abou...

Re: The January 2012 transfer window

Yes, seems unlikely. Since he has played most matches since returning from injury. On the other hand I guess he has played wide right in a 4-5-1 right side striker in a 4-3-3, and Hughes may want a striker for 4-4-2.

Wd be ideal for Sam's tactics.
