Re: Pablo Fornals
At half-time on Sunday I said to my mate I thought he'd been ineffective, but by the end of the game my opinion had totally changed. I think he could be a serious player later in the season. For those with short memories Antonio only played about 10 mins before Xmas in his first season with us, and ...

Re: ⚽Oxford United v West Ham United: LC R3 Match Thread
It's noticeable how attitudes have changed since our last league cup game. Then the call was to play our strongest team to make sure we gave it a go, now almost everyone is picking a second string! I don't disagree at all, we just don't want to pick up injuries to key players in an early round tie l...

Re: ⚽ Aston Villa v West Ham United: Match Thread
We’re West Ham United ffs. We’re a mid-table team. We’re not going to be great and / or entertaining every week. Even the best teams have to go away from home and grind out a point every now and then, especially when they’re playing with 10 men for 25 minutes. We weren’t at our fluid best, no doubt...

Re: ⚽ Aston Villa v West Ham United: Match Thread
Last night's game may not have been an attacking feast, but we played generally quite well. It was obvious that we were being slightly cautious for as long as it stayed 0-0 we were conscious of not getting done on the break (respect the point?). Newly promoted teams at home early in the season can b...

Re: Javier Hernandez Signs
It's a bit of a gamble to have just two strikers in the squad, but if you only play one striker (as we do) It's not so much. Critics who say this should have been done earlier aren't being realistic. If the bids come in late what are you supposed to do? It's been obvious he's wanted away for some ti...

I think Farke is this years wagner, he's just been rumbled sooner. Thought we were different class today, we looked like, well not west ham. We looked like a Carlsberg version of west ham. I am truly impressed especially by Arthur!

Apart from Diop completely different team. Aside from whether it's a good idea when was the last time we could field a second string of this quality?

Re: ⚽ Watford v West Ham Utd: match thread
We had 3.46 expected goals today, which is the highest of any team so far this season. Unfortunately, Watford's was 2.29, which adds to the 2.4 at Brighton and 3.18 against City. Those numbers are far far too high and we are bottom of the table so far. After 3 games our xG against is 7.88, Villa ne...

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
We still have a problem with Reid taking up big wages and not on the pitch. Ogbonna is another fairly big earning reserve as is Sanchez. We won't get rid of Reid until his contract expires, as I'm sure is the case with Sanchez. Fornals was a moneyball signing in my opinion. He'll only improve and b...

Re: Manuel Lanzini
I have a feeling that, before the season began, Pellegrini wasn't sure about Lanzini, and saw him as a reserve at best. If he maintains top form, he'll be an automatic first choice. Technically, he's as good as Anderson. The two of them together in a team will cause nightmares for opposition defenc...

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
This energetic BBM that everybody keeps talking about seems to have assumed legendary status. For someone that good you're gonna have to pay about £60m, then persuade him to come to West Ham. That Danny Cellebos looks the part, but even Arsenal could only get him on loan. Assuming Pellers is still h...

Re: ⚽ Brighton & Hove Albion vs West Ham Utd: match thread
The interesting thing for me was reading the opposition views. They generally seemed to think a point was a good result which is strange considering how scathing most have been on KUMB. Perhaps it's to do with expectations?

Re: ⚽ Brighton and Hove Albion vs West Ham United: Match Thread
Last season at Brighton we played quite well and lost (Arthur gazing on admiringly as the ball hit the back of the net). This season we played poorly and got a point. I know which I'm happier with

Re: ⚽ Brighton and Hove Albion vs West Ham United: Match Thread
haven't seen the game, but at this stage of the season I'd rather play badly for a point than play well and lose. We need noble back and next summer we'll need to spend £40m on his replacement.

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Manchester City: Massacre Thread (10/8)
I mentioned the professional fouling not because of yesterday's game (I was away and thankfully didn't see) but from some games against other teams last season. The fouls occur at the first hint of a counter and so don't draw cards. I accept that last ditch fouls will be made out of desperation, but...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Manchester City: Massacre Thread (10/8)
I was away and didn't see the game so can't really comment on it. BUT I've been saying for ages that Citeh's professional fouling is deliberately stopping counter-attacks before they properly develop, thereby avoiding yellow cards. It's hyper-cynical. Suddenly scouse supporters are taking to twitter...

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
Given I don't really watch any European football I have no idea how good any of our signings are (seen a bit of fornals  ) BUT given I was just as much in the dark Last season and how well Pellers buys worked I'm hugely impressed with the transfer business. The fact that we've done it on a mod...

Re: The summer transfer window 2019 thread
I've come to the conclusion that 'sky sources' is shorthand for "we read it on KUMB" when it comes to west ham transfers. Every time my missus calls out to me "sky says West Ham are after so-and-so" I've always read it here first. I guess it's the same with other clubs as well. T...
