Re: West Ham Utd V Burnley: match thread - 10.03.24

Slightly regretting my choice of footwear for the weather today.

I do expect a win, and yes it’s not a given in this league but this lot are very poor. Anything less isn’t good enough.

Not sure where to put this but was in the Lakeside store today and saw a last 16 commemorative mug for Freiburg.

Automatic relegation offence that.

See my post above. I’d also advocate a new contract for him but because they won’t, and still haven’t got it done, that’s my reasoning.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

While sitting 7th in the league? If we hadn't won the last two in the league I'd understand the logic as the season would effectively be finished but plenty to play for still if we don't get a result on Thursday. My argument would be based on the actions of our board. It was an open secret Moyes wo...

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I think there’s a fair argument to be made, if we lose next week, for bringing in a new manager to assess what he wants/needs ahead of the summer. I say that with the caveat it’ll most likely be someone out of work currently, as that’s what we’ve always done. Whether it be Potter/Cooper for argument...

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico

:horror: And that is my point. Would Pep really buy someone with those 'defects'. I don't think you can 'manage' those out, because that is what he is. Personally, I will be very surprised if he leaves for City. Man U possibly. Yes I believe so. When you play for West Ham, your bad games are amplif...

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico

This is the type of performance we have to put up with in exchange for his brilliant ones. When he's bad, he really does stink the place out. Perhaps if we had another alternative to bring on and give him a rest, oh wait, we don't.

Re: SC Freiburg -v- West Ham - EL16 match thread - 07.03.24

My only worry now, is that they turn up to London and say 'Go on then..' and just give us the ball.. I know this is a joke, but there's a serious element to it as well. We are not a good side when we have to chase a game as the favourites against teams defending deep. We're better than them everywh...

Re: West Ham Utd v Burnley - Official Match Thread

They're on 13 points. I would be asking questions of every single player if they can't get a result against this lot. (Before the Sheffield United comments come, we were unjustly robbed in that one).

Regarding the penalty, I honestly don’t know what the rules are anymore, like what are they? I’ve seen those given both ways so many times it’s confusing to analyse whether it should’ve gone our way.

Re: SC Freiburg -v- West Ham - EL16 match thread - 07.03.24

Man for man we’re better than them and we played like we were the inferior side. At no point did we try and control the game, dictate play and try to score a goal. Everything came from countering. Really, really poor from the manager imo. The kick off time at 5.45 next week doesn’t help either if ha...

Re: ✍️ Welcome Lucas Paquetá - Our Brazilian Magnifico

I think if you're an attacking player that can shine in a system like ours and approach the manager employs (no dig there), then think what can be achieved when you play in a more expansive way. Only thing that will stop him going there is if the charges come this season, on both sides of the coin. ...

Re: UEFA Europa League 2023-24

i don't think so Two games a week for a couple of weeks when we have EL games should be manageable for our players players like Salah, Van Dijk, Henderson, KdB, Rhodri, Kane etc, been doing that for years When those players miss out, there is an abundance of talent waiting to replace them. If we lo...

Re: UEFA Europa League 2023-24

I don't think we have the depth to go all in both league and the Europa.

Fortunately, it's Burnley on Sunday, but if we make it through to the quarters, the manager is going to have to start making some tough decisions.

Should be a really good battle next year. I think the likes of the established middle may find themselves in a bit of trouble. I'm thinking of Fulham/Palace and Wolves.

And if they get those 10 points deducted...Chelsea :scarfer:

I think a lot depends on who our next manager is in relation to Aguerd.

I like him, but if Moyes stays, there's merit in us cashing in and bringing a more suitable defender in.

Re: Return of The I've Been To The Cinema To See thread

Dune 2. Just awesome. It's a film that has plenty of layers weaved together with plenty of meaning in terms of the message being put across, and it's all the better for it. A long film, but it simply had to be to ensure everything came together. A cinema film. Do not wait for it to come to streaming.

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

If any of the big clubs are looking at taking a punt on De Zerbi, the way he has used his squad should be a concern. He’s effectively the polar opposite to Moyes, whereas somewhere in the middle would seem the optimal place to be. I agree with a large part of your post. But I think it's important t...
