The Black Hole (1979) Disney's attempted answer to Star Wars, starring Maximilian Schell, Anthony Perkins and Ernest Borgnine. I saw it when it first came out, and expected it now to look like an extended version of Battlestar Galactica, but actually it's much darker than that, as it draws to a rat...

Hopefully he's come down with a touch of the Nolans and will be back for us just after Christmas.

Commentator just called Ogbonna Aubameyang - know it's a different position but wouldn't swap him.

When we were always defending like mad, he'd often end up looking good popping up at the back. Looks a bit clueless in a team on the front foot.dodger wrote:I actually hope this comment does make me look silly in a few minutes but...

Finished Informer - nothing to add to the praise already heaped on it on here. Been enjoying Hang Ups which is the latest Stephen Mangan thing. He plays an online therapist and it's a semi-improvised sitcom featuring a litany of British comedy talent. Steve Oram is particularly good in it. It's on A...

Re: Superhero ( & sci-fi / other relevant) films
Eleven episodes of Daredevil season three done now and DD really is a minor character in this series. It's good but, try as they might, I can't care about Karen Page and there is a LOT of her in this. Kingpin is well acted (as expected), the new characters are well played, the stories are good but a...

Re: Trump
Off the main topic but I'm always amazed at how many times I've been in America and seen people go out of their way to say 'thank you for your service' to strangers in military uniform. It's a really nice gesture. Mind you, these people probably didn't spend their teenage weekends being chased aroun...

They Shall Not Grow Old was absolutely incredible. Really been looking forward to it and felt like a proper monument to all those who fought for us. You Were Never Really Here - I'd been looking forward to this for ages and, while Joaquin Phoenix was outstanding, it was so spare and arty that it ne...

We had a decorator start at ours this morning and I kept thinking 'I recognise this bloke' - finally it hit me - he's the spit of Pat Mustard from Father Ted.

Re: Another Child Sex Grooming Ring Broken Up
Just using that term shows his ignorance Sendo ... if you come from a culture and a country where sex with girls over the age of 14 is not only acceptable but expected, then the transition to Western values is difficult ... that's no defense but it doesn't make then a pedophile community ... Cultur...

Horrible news - really feel for the bloke. Not been a big fan of the way he's been booked since the initial Shield run either but I think a lot of that has been down to the company's unwillingness to take the title off Lesnar. Reigns is certainly capable and has delivered some great matches and been...

The first Star Wars live action series has been announced: The Mandalorian. Scripted and produced by Jon Favreau, it has the potential to be really enjoyable. Surprised at the absence of hype around it tho.

Holby City - My wife and I are the only people we know who watch this and, while I appreciate it can be soapy nonsense, they are on a tear at the moment with Paul McGann's villain. The last two episodes have contained some of the most sinister stuff I've seen on telly in years. Last week's was beyo...

Watching 'The Flash' on PICK TV (freeview) Loving it Loved the first series snd the subsequent ones have their moments but it does drag at times - largely by getting bogged down in relationship drama. If you've been enjoying it, try the spin off series Legends of Tomorrow which is rollicking good f...

Weighing in without an invite ... in addition to what Prawnie said, Progress is a decent British fed. I'd also say California's PWG is always worth a look. Re: Superhero ( & sci-fi / other relevant) films
This is being positioned as about as close as the MCU have to Superman so it has to be a bit big and full of pomp. Oddly, the bit of CGI that stood out (I've grown to accept obvious CGI in action bits) is the front of Blockbuster Video at the start. Also, I know there's probably a 'disguised alien' ...

On a UC tip - Monkman and Seagull's Genius Guide to Britain . Quite entertaining and interesting. Having not seen either on University Challenge, it appeared to be a bloke on the spectrum and his nearly-as-clever flamboyant mate taking a nerdy road trip and dropping knowledge as they went. After tha...
