Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Is he a flat track bully, or does he have more time on the ball against deep(er) defences so more of a chance to create? And is his poor(er) record against higher quality defences because they also have higher quality attackers and he's asked to do more defensive work in support of our weak(er) lef...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Never really understand this argument. We beat Liverpool and Chelsea this season, but dropped points to Brentford, Leeds, Burnley, Southampton, Palace, etc. We clearly need more flat track bullies in the side. Because the three points are the same no matter who you're playing against. It suggests a...

Re: The kids are all right

There are some paltry numbers in terms of making the first team in modern times but it still does just enough to make it worthwhile. We got £30m+ from the sale of Tomkins and Diangana, Johnson has been invaluable at times this season given Coufal and Fredericks's injuries, this week saw the retireme...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Didn't we score one direct all season? Had we of scored 4 direct this season it could well have been the difference between europa or not. You'd have to remove some of Lanzini's and Soucek's goals for that comparison to work unless we were fielding 12. And Cresswell's one gets removed because he wo...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Benrahma's 13 assists in all comps for us since joining: Fulham Villa (5) Sheffield United Burnley West Brom Doncaster Newcastle Leicester Palace Tells us two things – as a creator he's the ultimate flat-track bully and hits the wall when trying to damage any defence above lower midtable. And that y...

WTF?!? Just signed Digne for £25m. How are they continuing to splash so much money, especially on wages? They can farrrrkkkk off.
Think our best strategy is just to let Villa tire themselves out and then go and sift through what's left after they've gorged.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Presumably Bassey is being targeted as a CB with Digne only just arrived. Wouldn’t surprise me they’d be looking to improve on Mings and Konsa.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

No strong opinions either way on Ward-Prowse, which seems fitting given the type of player he is. Scoring the same number of goals from open play as Ben Johnson seems like the kind of thing that has potential to get people’s backs up if things go badly, but his delivery seems like it couldn’t find a...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

I see Jesse is in California right now. So if he’s joining I guess we won’t hear an announcement for another week or 2. Rumour is he believes he can still make a go of it at Man United. Going to use his old swipe card to get into the car park and do keepie-ups outside Ten Hag’s office window once h...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Vlasic will be gone/will push for a move as his involvement in the World Cup would be in jeopardy if he doesn't get game time prior to the tournament. Not sure young Nikola’s mood will have improved much having seen Milan win Serie A over the weekend. His mouthy old man was very clear they were his...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Bringing in Ward-Prowse and his aerial delivery at the same time as selling Soucek and his flying noggin seems like a plan that has not been fully thought out.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Ward-Prowse’s England career has been spent right on that dividing line of being the last man in or the last man cut from every squad. Definitive fringe player. It’s that aspect which means he might be open to a move somewhere prior to the World Cup to try and shore up his place in the pecking order...

Re: Mike Dean on VAR

1. West Ham top the table for VAR decisions going in their favour with 10. Genuinely, this is the reason I’ve always been a vocal advocate for VAR. Take the hit to the enjoyment of football in general in order to ensure we don’t get ratfucked as a club. Just imagine where we’d have finished with 10...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Interesting bits about how Moyes will do due diligence for the kind of man a player is. Good reading for those of us who don't want primadonnas etc. It’s why I don’t ultimately expect Dennis to rock up here. Also perhaps why Benrahma did, despite the appearance of it not being the type Moyes would ...

Interesting to see Deulofeu on here. Lots of good work in the build up and had a decent scoring record from out wide.
Interesting. Plea and Modeste have been been linked to us periodically over the years too.

Re: Latest England Squad

Cant actually really disagree too much with that squad. Don't think theres anyone deserving missing. Yes, pretty uncontroversial in the main other than the standard 10 mins Gareth has to spend justifying Alexander-Arnold being in or out at any given moment. Deserving might be the wrong word, but I ...

Latest England Squad

Firstly, obvious congrats to Mr Dani Dyer. Must feel slightly miffed at how long it's taken when he sees even James Justin got a call-up. As for this on the BBC: Surely Dan Burn and Matt Targett deserve a chance to prove themselves at this level? – Andrew, Newcastle These goblins are going to be ins...

Re: Mike Dean on VAR

A reluctance to overrule a pitch-side review doesn’t seem to jibe with what we know of his character at all.

I would have thought he’d have revelled in snubbing them, particularly the closer that overall agreement figure got to 100%.
