Re: Why is fortune always hiding

In a nutshell because we've been run like a circus for the whole time I've been alive which is 40+ years. This season is the first in the club's history where we've qualified for Europe in back to back seasons through the league. Not Premier league history, in our whole history! Let that sink in for...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

We aren’t trying to stave off relegation, or finish midtable any more. By most accounts, this club and fanbase like to talk about Top 6 and Top 4. There are numerous well-liked players who aren’t good enough for that. To guarantee Top 6? Correct, but they are the same players who finished 6th and t...

If the players were as bad as he thinks they were, why did he leave them on so long?
Because the options on the bench were worse and yes he'd probably still have thought that if we'd signed (available) players in January.

It still isn't quite his squad, but this is the summer to sort that out.

I think it was meant to be a (very bad) joke. Something to do with Mike Jackson-parent-kiddy fiddler kind of thing.

Yes, it’s awful.
Wasn't the punchline simply "you are not on loan" in reference to the terrible wacko jacko song?

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

The thing is, we were doing that earlier in the season, but then inexplicably, it stopped for propelling it up to Antonio. It is as if we thought, **** this, let's cut this bollox out, the end result's the same Because we swapped Ogbonna for Dawson. Everything went back ten yards (other than Antoni...

He is under a temporary hold after reading the last few pages of his thread on here.

Better than that DDA is having other fans tell you what a great job your manager is doing. Have never had that before now.

He isn't perfect by any means, but people take us seriously and that really is massive.

Kulusevski is a snip. Transformed them rather than standing still.
I mean to standstill next season from where they are now. He is quality, but he'll also cost the CL money to keep.

It is us signing Carroll x3 as the CB, CM and Kulusevski are all on loan.

I admire your optimism.
Our opportunity to push on was January.
We blew it.
You say push on, I say roll the dice.

It worked for Spurs, but to standstill they now have to spend the best part of €100m out of their summer kitty.

Re: ⚽ Brighton & Hove Albion vs West Ham Utd: match thread

I'm surprised it took us as long as it did to run out of Puff. Feels disappointing after Palace got a result, but this squad has achieved miracles this season. I said the knockout stage and a top half finish would be great and they've far exceed that. At the same time plenty of work to do in the win...

Re: FAC / Weekend's Games

Don’t disagree with the sentiment re sky and BT, but no idea where the £1k a year figure comes from. I get BTsport for free with my internet and negotiated sky down to about £15 a month for all the sky sports channels. Anyone paying full whack for those kind of things is a mug. BT I only watch the f...

Anyone watching the women's champions league final its been a really good final great goals aswell. Its ended Barcelona 1 lyon 3. Yeah was a really good game, some crunching tackles going in as well. Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Agree I don't mind defensively focused full backs at all... it takes less pressure off the midfield and gives them a bit more freedom to get forward It may be a bit more oldschool but as long as you adapt accordingly it doesn't have to limit you Given how many we let in it might actually be what we...

We have 5 possibly 6 leaving so with only 4 or 5 in, we will probably start next season with less than this one?
You have to look at how many minutes those players leaving have played though.

Replacing them with 4 or 5 (active) squad players strengthens us.

It isn't a pure numbers equation.

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

Spot on, but historically I bet the team that finishes 4th (probably the best we could achieve any time soon) scores more than we have in our last two excellent seasons. Take out Liverpool who score by the bucket load and the average is 68 goals or 6 more than we scored last season. Goals against i...

Re: The Summer Transfer Thread 2022.

I'd rather another year of Cresswell than no alternative to Antonio. I like your posts and tend to agree with a lot of what you say, but not this. Complete opposite for me. Antonio is still capable of 8/10 multiple times a season and we score even when he is absent. On the flip side, 60% of our goa...
