Re: The summer 2014 Transfer thread and wish list
Cole I'd take straight away. Possibly still the best defensive left back in the league. Terry and Lampard I have no interest in. Terry still has it, in a deep line especially, but the guy is reprehensible, whilst I detest Lampard. Hard on playing ability alone, think I'd still take Cole first. Lampa...

Re: The summer 2014 Transfer thread and wish list
From what I've heard Snodgrass is a Celtic player once the season is over. Redmond I'd take a risk on. Won't cost too much and has something we lack; pace. Burst pace and a decent shot, I think at his age the improvement we could get out of him would make a good long term investment. Caulker too is ...

Re: The summer 2014 Transfer thread and wish list
Ruddy, Fer, Redmond. Richardson. Caulker, Medel, Mutch, Daehli - I'd consider any of those. But nothing majorly interesting.

Re: Allardyce: Stick or twist
From all I gather, the hard tactical stuff is done in the week. That board of Rodgers' means nothing when all you're looking for is focus on the game and short, sharp phrases.

There is only one manager and one club who I could see paying money for Nolan

Re: The summer 2014 Transfer thread and wish list
Maiga Diarra I only really want two players to go. Everyone else has reasons to keep them depending on what else happens. I think all of Taylor, McCartney, O'Brien, Joey, Vaz Te, Diame and Jussi could be considered close to the exit, whilst I would actually be happy to see us offload Nolan. Similarl...

Re: Allardyce: Stick or twist
I agree Dave, I still feel sorry for Southampton fans who watched Bale, Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain all leave before they had even had chance to see them. At least we got Cole, Ferdinand and Defoe for a year or two. If we get relegated and are ever to reproduce any names like that again, chances...

Re: Allardyce: Stick or twist
Wilko and Aceface - OK , I take it all back about Laudrup , apart from the bit about having no Plan B against a 10 man West Ham side with a poor manager . I might have been a bit derisive , I admit . Good man. I do understand the possible in the door one second out the door the next fear, it would ...

Re: Allardyce: Stick or twist
3] Michael Laudrup , - took over a very good Swansea team that had been built up by Martinez then Rodgers . Couldn't even beat a 10 man West Ham , definitely no Plan B and never stays long . A ' No ' from me , but was seen at The Boleyn recently apparently Think that's another unfair example of Lau...

He wears a gilet. To manage a football club. I literally can't be bothered to look past that. Its enough in the modern world to be sacked for.

Re: Allardyce: Stick or twist
Spot on This is why I can't get my head around the Sam out brigade Sacking Sam just isn't logical I'm not sure keeping a manager that can provoke animosity and disenchantment from a good section of the support is logical either. I'm not entrenched in either camp, but there is certainly logic to sac...

Well, the problem with that argument is they havent and didnt have Allardyce as manager in comparison.Up the Junction wrote: Yet not according to Everton fans.

Re: Allardyce: Stick or twist
To be fair, all the evidence of Everton has been better than what we've played under Sam. Its not VASTLY different, but the small improvements would make a difference. The ball playing skills of Pienaar and Baines one side, Coleman and Mirallas the other was very good.

Re: Allardyce: Stick or twist
I do think Laudrup gets a bit of a raw deal on here. I thought he improved Swansea's play generally, gave them more of a threat than they had before he came and made them less "sideways and back" than before. This year they got stretched all ways with Europe but were probably still a bette...

Re: Allardyce: Stick or twist
Its not ALL about results though, is it? I don't think Allardyce is the worst manager we could have, but I do think there are managers who could improve us, the players we have and make things more entertaining. I'd even take 40 points but more entertaining. However, Allardyce could buy right in the...

Re: The summer 2014 Transfer thread and wish list
I have seen a lot of cardiff since xmas and theophile is one of, if not the worst, full back in the league. All imo of course! By no means is he the finished article, but I think he has all the tools to be very good and suits this league. I expect him to come good somewhere, so its probably best he...

Re: The summer 2014 Transfer thread and wish list
Cardiff's right back, Theophile-Catherine, reminds me of a younger Guy Demel. We could do well to have a look at him.
All transfer targets remain impossible to call till we know if we're getting a new manager or not.

Re: Allardyce: Stick or twist
My number 1 problem with the twist crew is its mostly the same crew who beat themselves silly over the signings of Downing/Carroll/Jarvis etc as some masterful pieces of business when in reality they are 3 of the worst bits of business we have ever done. Just admit these players are woeful and its ...
