A known tactic.
I heard that last night, quoted by an Israeli politician. However, if the source is just Israel, who knows if it's true?

Thanks for that TOME, i forgot about the newspaper archive.
I've only just spotted, there is a very faint printed photographer's name on the back.
"Fredk Roberts
42 Manor Road
Enfield"
I think he was a local Enfield photographer, so i think Enfield or Tottenham are probably the areas

Re: Your teachers

Left Emerson Park School at earliest date, as i had an apprenticeship lined up & you were allowed to sign on in between. Went back to school to return my books with an earring. This pissed of my macho Welsh PE teacher Mr Tompkins, who beat me up. He then shat himself & kept me hostage in his...

Re: Selling on ebay

As WHUI mentioned, check prices on ebay, by searching & then ticking the "sold" box, so you can see actual sold prices.
I sell a fair bit of stuff to collectors on Ebay & it's been dead this year, lots of people selling off their collections & not many bidders.

Re: The Avondale FC 1922-23 (Non West Ham)

Hi, I spoke to a football historian i know. They played in the Barnet and District league, but he's not sure whether they made it to the 60's. He suggests further research by checking the Barnet Press ,and the results which is held at the Hendon library if you want to check the league's results til...

The Avondale FC 1922-23 (Non West Ham)

Can anybody tell me anything about this team?
I Googled them, but found very little, i think they may have been based in the Enfield or Tottenham area.
I bought an old postcard today, with a 1922-23 team photo.
Would love to know more.

Re: Lost Stadiums : West Ham Speedway

The site was on Prince Regent Lane not far from the present-day DLR station. It was a hell of a size too. When it was demolished in 1972 to make way for new drums, the housing estate used road names to honour former speedway stars. My parents took me over there when i was young. They went a lot &am...

Re: ULEZ

^^ The rules for street signs are quite stringent so there's always hope. We had a bus lane introduced near me that was raking in the dosh, people kept loosening the sign and twisting it so it couldn't be seen, then they'd take a picture of it like that to aid their appeals. Eventually the council ...

Re: ULEZ

The dark green sign doesn't really stand out against a backdrop of trees I grant you, but they are there. I agree there is nothing on the actual junction with Wingletye Lane as you turn in, and no sign of a camera between there and Sylvan Ave. So if you were coming from the M25 you'd not get pinged...

Re: ULEZ

How far down the 127 was you looking Heysel? it doesn't start until the Hall Lane junction but then all roads off of the 127 are in the zone. I went down to Wingletye lane, saw nothing & certainly no signs to warn me before entering or cameras between Front Lane & Hall Lane. Maybe i'm just ...

I drove down to Essex last week. M25, then turned onto the A127 to Hornchurch. Google maps warned me about ULEZ & my car is exempt. However, the signage is appalling, in fact i didn't see anything mentioning that i was entering the zone. I was expecting to see cameras & signs like the conges...

Re: A place to call home: where next?

Ironically when she gets to Lincoln we're told that one of the streets is one of the steepest in the UK [ if I heard that right ?? ] - shops look decent too unlike most of the other towns in the UK . Looks gorgeous - a bit flat but gorgeous . The misconception is that it's all flat, we have Lincoln...
