Re: West Ham United V Arsenal Match Thread

I also agree with Old Mile End. I had hoped that Carroll, when he came back from injury, would be our plan B, coming on to charge around and scare defences when plan A wasn't working. Hopefully Sam will come to that conclusion, although it will be, if it happens, after AFCON.

Re: West Ham United V Arsenal Match Thread

Well, we gave it a go, we are better than we were, but Arsenal are still better than us. Hardly much of a surprise to any objective observer: it will take a few years to accumulate a squad with the quality in depth of theirs. Fourth place is unobtainable, but we all really knew that didn't we. South...

Re: West Ham United V Arsenal Match Thread

Stoke showed how to beat this lot the other week- get in their faces, hound, chase and pressure. For a change we have a team with realistic chance of getting something through our quality rather than attritional Samball- hope we turn up and smash-em!! I agree, and start fast. Almost all our losses ...

Re: West Ham United V Arsenal Match Thread

[Tin Hat Matt on Sun Nov 30, 2014 8:02 pm I hope I'm wrong but I can't see us getting more than a point at best (still would't be bad). We are dreadful out there, last time we've beaten them in their place was in May 2006. 1-1 or 1-2 loss I'm afraid. We won. I don't believe you.
Hahaha good ...

Re: West Ham United V Arsenal Match Thread

What got my goat yesterday which has to change is soon as noble is back he takes corners and as useal they are awful! Downings are far better I feel the same: Nobes is a great penalty taker, but has long been less than good in other dead ball situations. Not sure why Sam persists, especially as we ...

Re: Chelsea v West Ham United: Match Thread

Personally I think Arsenal will be another tough game. I'm quite concerned that we start better than we did today where it looked unstructured at times. We need to go back to the winning formula. Agreed. No question it will be a tough game. Arsenal are an excellent attacking side, the equal of Chel...

We also abandoned Downing today. He's a fraction of the player out wide.

Agreed, Bubbles. He's been outstanding at the tip of the diamond. But, quite frankly, if he doesn't play there, we may as well start somebody else (Amalfitano).

Re: Chelsea v West Ham United: Match Thread

Looking very tight for fourth and fifth place: pretty much all the other results went the way of our rivals today. With the high likelihood of Arsenal picking up the 3 points this evening, it makes our game on Sunday even more important. Here's hoping we can make Arsene scowl, and send us into the s...

Re: Chelsea v West Ham United: Match Thread

This year at Stamford Bridge in the league, amongst other results: ManU lost by 2 goals Stoke lost by 3 goal Newcastle lost by 3 goals Tottenham lost by 4 goals and by 3 goals Arsenal lost by 6 goals and by 2 goals Villa lost by 3 goals Doesn't make the pain any less, but perhaps gives a little pers...

Make no bones about it. Song has been dropped so Nolan stays in the team.
Utter ***** , complete and utter ***** .
Agreed. Sam has his faults, but total stupidity is NOT one of them.

Good luck to everyone making the trip to the Bridge today. Stay warm, stay safe, and sing your hearts out for those of us unable to be there. I expect big Sam to "out-tactic" Jose again. COYI!!!!!

Also, as an aside it's nice to see that you didn't use your first ever post to ask which pub 'West Ham' (not even 'we') are drinking in.

Thanks, Dave

Hi everyone

First post, so just wanted to say hello. I have lurked on this forum for a long time, and supported West Ham since the 60s. Looking forward to joining in the "discussions!" :-)
