Re: Hospital-themed WHU Footballers (Past and Present)
Aww, stammer has pipped me to Trevor Porely, and TOMOS and Viv snook in replies while I was double-checking Di Cardio hadn't already been suggested. I was also just about to say McKinightingale, but Viv has not only beaten me, it's my favourite reply so far (and the bar is high). Here are some more ...

Re: Stopping the cheating
Of course Arteta's team are going to make the most of it I wa a bit disappointed VAR didn't dsallow their second goal for a foul by Saka in the build up - the one where he then rolled around holding his legs until his team had recovered the ball and got into the box - when he made a miraculous reco...

Re: Wolverhampton Wanderers v West Ham United - match thread
This caught my attention:- "It’s time the Premier League started awarding points after a game has finished. Once they admit mistakes are made. Too much at stake hopefully all PL clubs will vote in favour of this one day." - Mile End Wanderer Too right, those MotD pundits unanimously admit...

Re: Everton FC: 10 Point Deduction Confirmed for PL FFP breach
2 points off for the fact that they have already been punished for 2 of the 3 year period I would have expected a heavier punishment for repeat / multiple offences in the ame time frame, not being let off. I thought they got off lightly with their previous appeal, but two points is a joke. For most...

Re: Bite-sized FA Cup Quiz
Please correct me if i am wrong, but i believe the last winning FA Cup side that had all 11 players as Englishmen ( Not British, but English ) was West Ham in 1975. I believe we had the last all-British winning team too. EDIT Ah, no we didn't. Four teams have since won with UK-lineups (three were a...

Re: Bite-sized FA Cup Quiz
Sorry mate. I think twice before putting them up in the first place but I do love quizzes. I think I go overboard sometimes. I love your posers, WHLS, keep them up! :scarfer: I just felt like having a grumble today, sorry. [EDIT: It also served to explain why I was about to post a bunch of wrong an...

Re: Bite-sized FA Cup Quiz
I hate that you alwways reveal the answers before those of us in differing time ones have had a chance to play. So I'm ignoring all previous replies and throwing in my guesses. 1) Liverpool? 2) I can't remember us playing Hull City but I have sneaky feeling this is a trick question so: Swansea City ...

Seriously!?
Isn't he known for being naively attack-minded and high-energy performances (causing his teams to run out of steam)?

Re: Stopping the cheating
No idea. Imo only scoring chances should be given as penalties. If a player is in the corner on the byline and there's incidental contact where the attacking player isn't going for goal and has no chance to shoot, I just don't see why that should be a penalty. I bed to differ. Imagine a counter att...

Re: Stopping the cheating
Go back to this. Honestly, I don't even think most fouls in the box should be penalties. It's ridiculous. Cheating in the box is an in game cottage industry now. /twitter.com/i/status/1775765302401216690 Wow, nice find - but that was soft even for "obstruction", did the defender block him...

I couldn't go last night, but I can possibly comment on this (despite not experiencing it) as I am a DJ myself. Whoever DJs there is up against it. The PA system isn't really designed for that sort of thing, and what music would you play anyway? "Football bangers" like Free From Desire, a...

https://player.vimeo.com/video/929948017?badge=0&autopause=0&player_id=0&app_id=58479 The more I see it the more angry I am about it. It looks like Gordon actually stood on Coufal's toe! Coufal's foot lands and Gordon's foot rolls as it skids off the top of Coufal's boot comi...

Re: Newcastle Utd v West Ham Utd - Match Thread
I cannot get the video to work to show the examples! Both are videos of long balls travelling 40 yards to defenders outside the box. The first defender chests back to his keeper but it is intercepted by an "offside-positioned" attacker. The second is a long low diagonal ball towards a win...

Re: Newcastle Utd v West Ham Utd - Match Thread
I can only think the ref doesn't think Schar touched it and so Mav had more time and the ball had travelled further - which makes less sense because then Gordon is offside from his own pass!

Re: Newcastle Utd v West Ham Utd - Match Thread
it is another ridiculously complex alternation to the offisde rule IMHO if attacker is in an offside position when the player passes/ shoots etc and then it comes off a defender (deliberate or not), and goes to that player, then they should be offside - it is still the same phase of play, and the d...

Re: Newcastle Utd v West Ham Utd - Match Thread
The full script from The FA website: Note: Schar got a touch a split second earlier and is going through goalwards, the ball is off the ground, the speed of the incident and the shape of Mavropanous' body and his 'kicking' leg, and that he is almost spreadeagled. See my picture above. All things tha...
